According to a joint statement by the US and UK militaries, military forces of the two countries, with the support of Canada, the Netherlands, Bahrain, and Australia, on January 22 carried out the 8th raid against the Houthis in Yemen.
A US official said that the country's fighter jets took off from the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower to attack.
Meanwhile, UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said four British Typhoon fighter jets took part in the attack. He warned that Houthi attacks on commercial vessels "threaten the lives of sailors and disrupt shipping at an unacceptable cost to the global economy ".
This is the eighth attack on the Houthis in the past 10 days. In this attack, the US and UK attacked 8 targets, down from 30 targets on January 11.
"Our goal is to continue to reduce tensions and restore stability in the Red Sea. Let us reiterate our warning to the Houthis: We will not hesitate to protect lives and the free flow of commerce in one of the world's most important waterways from continued threats," the US and UK said in a joint statement.
Since last November, Iran-backed Houthi forces have stepped up attacks on cargo ships in the Red Sea, disrupting trade between Europe and Asia.
According to experts, the current US strategy, including military strikes and sanctions, seems to be aimed at preventing the Middle East conflict from spreading further.
