Established on the basis of merging My Duc commune, Khanh Hoa of Chau Phu district, My Duc commune currently inherits the potential, economic and social strengths and achievements in the process of striving to build new rural areas of the two previous localities. The commune has larger financial, human and land resources, creating momentum for attracting large-scale investment projects to develop economic and social infrastructure to implement important criteria in building new rural areas.

According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of My Duc Commune Nguyen Phu Loc, the locality has a geographical location along the Hau River with a convenient inter-commune waterway and road transport system. In particular, the commune is adjacent to Chau Doc Ward - the commercial, service and tourism center of the province, so production and goods circulation activities are quite bustling, becoming a highlight in the local socio-economic development goals.

“The locality has basic advantages in the process of building new rural areas. Specifically, the old Khanh Hoa commune will meet the advanced new rural standards in 2024, the old My Duc commune will meet the new rural standards in 2015. Promoting the existing premise, we strive to build My Duc into a modern new rural commune on the basis of suitability with local practical conditions,” said Mr. Nguyen Phu Loc.

In the spirit of local efforts, the My Hoa Hamlet Front Committee has promoted its role in building new rural areas. According to Ms. Pham Thi Kieu Loan - Head of the Hamlet Front Committee, members have promoted the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas". As a result, 722 households have achieved the title of cultural family, accounting for 98.6%. The hamlet has mobilized to build a concrete bridge connecting My Hoa - My Thanh hamlet, with a total cost of nearly 290 million VND, creating favorable conditions for people to travel and trade, contributing to building new rural areas.

Renovate the homeland

Besides the available potentials and advantages, My Duc commune also faces certain difficulties in the process of building new rural areas. The economic restructuring is still slow, the agricultural sector accounts for a high proportion, while the proportion of industry, construction and services is low. Although the socio-economic infrastructure has been invested, it still does not meet the development requirements.

Based on the analysis of advantages, difficulties and challenges, the Party Executive Committee of My Duc commune proposed breakthroughs in the 2025 - 2030 term, including: Developing smart agriculture, promoting investment in infrastructure development, striving to turn My Duc into a modern new rural commune before 2030. Thereby, affirming the determination of the local political system in the goal of transforming My Duc land in the new period.

To successfully achieve the set goals, the Party Executive Committee of the commune directed to focus on transforming the crop structure associated with building a high-tech agricultural economic model; developing organic agriculture associated with the value chain of sustainable production and consumption; linking agricultural production activities with eco-tourism services. By the end of 2030, the average income per capita of the commune is expected to increase by nearly 6% compared to 2025.

Along with that, implementing the OCOP program well, encouraging local businesses and product owners to apply digital transformation in production, product promotion, and market connection. The commune continues to propose calling for investment in exploiting the South Canal Trade Center Area, upgrading My Duc market, Vong Xoai market... to gradually form an orderly, hygienic, and civilized market.

“We mobilize resources, especially people’s contributions according to the motto of the State and the People working together to invest in key projects to improve people’s material and spiritual life. At the same time, we continue to maintain and promote the results achieved in criteria and targets related to culture, society and environment to successfully achieve the set goals,” Mr. Nguyen Phu Loc emphasized.

With heroic tradition, together with the determination of the local political system and people, My Duc commune is entering a new development stage with new confidence, spirit, and determination to become a modern and civilized new rural commune.

Currently, My Duc commune has achieved 17/19 criteria and 55/57 targets for new rural construction. The locality is striving to achieve targets for political and social organizations that are classified as having completed their tasks well or better, and the commune meeting safety standards for security and order.
