US Special Presidential Envoy for Russia and Ukraine Keith Kellogg told the Munich Security Conference that based on facts, the US does not believe the European Union (EU) should participate in peace negotiations for Ukraine.

“I come from the realist school. I think that’s not going to happen,” Mr Kellogg said. This did not mean that the EU’s interests “were not considered, used or exploited,” he stressed.
The US special envoy stressed that Washington will play a mediating role in the negotiations and that Russia and Ukraine will be the two main players.
Meanwhile, Fox News Channel reported that Ukrainian representatives have so far not been informed nor invited to the Russia-US talks on the conflict in Ukraine, which will take place in Saudi Arabia.
Fox News reported on social network X that Ukrainian officials said they were not invited to the Russia-US talks in Saudi Arabia.
There is information that Russia and the US are currently selecting members for the negotiating team. On the US side, National Security Advisor Mike Walz and Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff may lead the team.
Information about the composition of the Russian delegation has not been disclosed so far. The negotiations are likely to take place in the capital Riyadh.
