US deploys B-52 strategic bombers to UK

Pentagon spokesman Major General Patrick Ryder announced that the US has deployed four B-52 Stratofortess strategic bombers to the UK. The first aircraft has just landed at RAF Fairford air base.

Speaking at a press conference on May 21, General Ryder said that the first four US Air Force B-52 Stratofortress aircraft were deployed as planned to the US European Command's area of ​​responsibility this week.

According to General Ryder, US pilots will have many opportunities to train with allies in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and regional partners, as well as practice interoperability with them, protecting the Euro-Atlantic region against hostile agents.

The B-52 Stratofortress is one of the main bombers of the US Air Force. This type of aircraft is capable of carrying weapons, including nuclear bombs, and can be used to carry out strategic missions.

According to airandspaceforces, the bombers are part of a large-scale global series of exercises by the Department of Defense , which will run through June. Previously, the US European Command said the series of exercises with US partners will include 11 separate training events in Europe, including the recently concluded US-led integrated air and missile defense exercise Astral Knight.
