During the exchange and premiere of the film "Gieo nhan" in Ho Chi Minh City, Nam Cuong said: "I have collaborated with director Ho Ngoc Xum many times on films with old settings. Mostly, I play gentle, positive roles, but this time it has completely changed. I transformed into a villain from beginning to end."
Nam Cuong said the last time he worked with Meritorious Artist Ho Ngoc Xum on a film with an old setting was the work "Duyen Dinh Kim Tien", released to audiences in 2017. Until now, he has had the opportunity to return to this film genre and work again with director Ho Ngoc Xum.
During the period from 2018 to present, he also participated in some films with modern settings: "Not like yesterday", "Reunion song", "A wedding of three brides"...
Nam Cuong shares about his role
With the role of Nhu Binh, an orphan who suffered a lot of trauma since childhood, forming a scheming and calculating personality, Nam Cuong was under a lot of pressure.
"I feel sorry for my character a lot because I understand why Nhu Binh became like that. The trauma of her childhood, the death of her beloved mother, all made Nhu Binh become calculating, ambitious to climb the ladder of wealth. I was stressed on set, and still stressed at home. I sympathize with the character's situation, the trauma of her childhood, but what you sow is what you reap. Nhu Binh suffered the consequences of her actions and lived in loneliness, had a child but did not dare to admit it" - Nam Cuong expressed.
To transform into a villain, Nam Cuong said he read books and watched movies, learning from them. He combined them with his own experiences and life experiences to portray Nhu Binh.
"Gieo nhan" is adapted from two novels "Bo vo" and "Buc thu hoi" by writer Ho Bieu Chanh. The film tells the story of Nhu Binh - a person who was taken in, raised and married to by Mr. Ba Chanh. However, Nhu Binh was greedy for wealth and neglected poverty, harmed his relatives, abandoned his wife and children to pursue a rich lover.

Although the film is set in the past, it also deals with hot issues in today's society such as fighting for property, adultery, corruption, social intrigues... "Gieo nhan" has a slow pace, no scenes of killing or big guns but contains conflicts in each person's soul, the struggle between good and evil, between money and love.
In addition to Nam Cuong, the film also features actors Phuc An, Kan.D, Le Manh Phuong... and will air at 7:35 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday on HTV7, starting from May 16.
