Improve the quality of environmental criteria

Phu Yen currently has 15/25 communes and towns meeting criterion number 17 on environment and food hygiene and safety, of which 12 communes have completed new rural construction. Environmental protection is promoted by localities through activities such as "Volunteer Saturday", "5 no, 3 clean" movement of the women's union; "Bright, green, clean, beautiful" campaigns in schools and the construction of "model roads" and "flower roads".

Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Ha, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of Phu Yen District People's Committee, said: The district has directed localities to regularly inspect the implementation of environmental criteria in villages and sub-areas; at the same time, mobilize people to plant flowers along the roads, build green - clean - beautiful landscapes. Communes actively propagate people to build civilized lifestyles, raise awareness of environmental protection in the community. The whole district currently has over 40 model roads with a total length of 60 km.

Effectively implementing the movement, Phu Yen district has built a model of cultural lifestyle, green - clean - beautiful landscape in Nghia Hung village, Muong Coi commune and Chieng Thuong sub-area, Quang Huy town. From the initial effectiveness, the model was replicated in Tan Tuong Hop village and Nga Ba village, Muong Coi commune. Currently, these villages have all met the new rural model standards in terms of environmental landscape.

Mr. Sa Van Thuy, Party cell secretary, head of Tan Tuong Hop village, Muong Coi commune, said: The village is located next to National Highway 37, often welcoming tourists to stop by. When implementing the construction of a model new rural village in terms of landscape and environment, the Party cell and the village management board met to discuss, agree on methods and mobilize people to renovate the landscape and housing grounds. Thanks to that, people's awareness of environmental protection has been significantly raised: Roads are cleaned daily, flowers are planted along the paths, livestock are no longer allowed to roam freely, creating a green, clean and beautiful environment.

In some communes in mountainous, remote and isolated areas, the collection, classification of solid waste, plastic waste and environmental treatment in livestock farming are still limited. The Steering Committee of the National Target Programs of the district has directed to step up propaganda through loudspeakers and in village meetings and Party cell activities.

Mr. Dinh Xuan Truong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuong Tien Commune, said: As a commune in the hydroelectric reservoir area, environmental protection is always closely linked to water resource protection. The commune has promoted people not to litter the lake, limit the use of pesticides near streams and reservoirs; build hygienic barns, and not let livestock roam freely during the dry season. Self-managed inter-family groups also actively participate in environmental monitoring, contributing to raising people's awareness in preserving the landscape.

To improve the quality of criterion No. 17 on the environment, Phu Yen district continues to promote the dissemination of the Law on Environmental Protection, launch emulation movements in communes associated with new rural construction, contributing to improving the quality of the local living environment.
