On the afternoon of April 28, at the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, the award ceremony of the "Japanese Law Competition" for Vietnamese people living, working and studying in Japan took place.

The contest has made practical contributions to improving understanding of the law and developing the Vietnamese community in this Northeast Asian country.

According to a VNA reporter in Tokyo, the contest was jointly organized by the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA) and the Vietnamese Media Channel in Japan (Honto TV), under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and the consulting coordination of the Tokyo Police Department.

The contest attracted the participation of nearly 1,600 overseas Vietnamese living, working and studying in Japan with 2 rounds of multiple choice (35 questions) and essay (5 questions) implemented from February to April 2024.

As a result, the first prize went to contestant Nguyen Doan Dung, the second and third prizes went to contestants Nguyen Chuc Linh and Le Manh Hung respectively.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 10 consolation prizes to the entries with excellent answers among the 30 finalists.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh, Ambassador of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, highly appreciated the efforts of the Organizing Committee in implementing the contest to learn about Japanese law for the first time and achieving very positive results.

Currently, the number of Vietnamese people in Japan is increasing, becoming the second largest foreign community in Japan, and also the second largest Vietnamese community in the world .

Therefore, understanding and correctly applying the regulations and laws of the host country plays an important role in helping the Vietnamese community better integrate into Japanese society.

For his part, Mr. Tanaka Hironori, an officer of the International Policy Department of the Tokyo Police Department, said that learning, understanding and strictly complying with legal regulations is a very important content for foreigners in general and Vietnamese people in particular to have a safe and secure life in Japan.

He expressed his hope that this contest will act as a bridge, further spreading necessary legal knowledge among the Vietnamese community in Japan, practically contributing to reducing the number of law violations.

Sharing with VNA reporters in Japan after receiving the award, Nguyen Chuc Linh said that due to the nature of his job as International Relations Coordinator of the Kizugawa City Government, Kyoto Prefecture, Linh often has to improve his knowledge of Japanese law to organize courses on Vietnamese culture and law for the city police, as well as provide life advice to Vietnamese citizens.

According to Linh, the contest is a great opportunity for her to consolidate and expand her knowledge of law, serving her personal work and daily life in Japan.

According to Nguyen Huu Tuan, a consolation prize winner from Chiba, a thorough understanding of the laws of the host country not only helps Vietnamese people in Japan avoid mistakes that lead to unintentional violations of the law, but also helps each person protect themselves, stay away from temptations and not be drawn into illegal activities. From there, everyone can have a stable, safe and healthy life, while building an increasingly good and friendly image of Vietnamese people in Japanese society.

According to Mr. Do Quang Ba, Chairman of FAVIJA and member of the Organizing Committee, the questions of the contest closely followed the real situations of Vietnamese people living and working in Japan such as traffic regulations, garbage classification, public hygiene... Therefore, the contest has a very practical meaning for every Vietnamese person, especially in the early stages of coming to Japan.

Mr. Do Quang Ba also said that after the success of this year's contest, the Organizing Committee will continue to research and replicate this model in more diverse and regular forms, creating a healthy and useful playground for the Vietnamese community in Japan./.
