The intense heat of the past few days has caused electricity consumption in Ha Tinh to increase sharply. On May 19 alone, the province's electricity consumption reached nearly 4.8 million kWh (an increase of about 1.5 million kWh compared to normal days).
Through monitoring the power grid operation parameters in May 2023 of Ha Tinh Electricity Company, the electricity usage in the area peaked during peak hours at noon and evening; in which, noon from 11:30 - 15:00, evening from 20:00 - 23:00.
On normal days, the average electricity consumption in the area is from 3.1 to 3.3 million kWh/day. However, on hot days in May, the load increases very high, with the average electricity consumption fluctuating from 4 to 4.6 million kWh/day.
Ha Tinh Electricity Company handles defects in the power grid system.
According to the review, the province's electricity load on May 6, 2023 reached a record high with a peak capacity of 308.7 MW. Meanwhile, during the hottest time of 2022, the highest capacity of the power grid in Ha Tinh only reached 289.5 MW.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan - Deputy Head of the Dispatching Department, Ha Tinh Electricity Company said: "On May 18, the peak capacity of Ha Tinh power grid reached 304 MW with electricity consumption of more than 4.6 million kWh; on May 19, Ha Tinh power grid continued to set a record with a peak capacity of about 311 MW, electricity consumption of nearly 4.8 million kWh".
According to records, the prolonged hot weather has caused equipment on the power grid to continuously operate at full load, even overloaded at some times, leading to the risk of local incidents on the power grid.
Huong Khe Electricity workers promote electricity saving among people.
It is forecasted that this summer, Ha Tinh will experience many severe heat waves and the possibility of local power shortages. According to the forecast of Ha Tinh Electricity Company, electricity consumption in the province will increase; the electricity load of the whole province is expected to set new records.
Faced with that situation, the unit has increased propaganda and recommended that customers continue to raise awareness of saving electricity to both reduce costs and reduce pressure on the power grid.
Enterprises and production and business establishments need to increase the implementation of electricity saving solutions.
Agencies and offices need to strictly implement the Prime Minister 's directive on saving electricity. Enterprises, production and business establishments need to replace old machinery and equipment, pay attention to investing in advanced technology and equipment to prevent power loss, and use equipment suitable for working functions. Manufacturing customers with specialized transformer stations should limit electricity use during peak hours during hot months and implement DR load adjustment (ie load reduction without affecting production)...
For customers, it is necessary to turn off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment; use energy-saving devices; use LED bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs; limit electricity use during peak hours at noon and in the evening (noon from 11:30 - 14:30 and evening from 20:00 - 22:00); only turn on the air conditioner when necessary and just enough for use (from 26 degrees Celsius or higher and used in combination with a fan); should not use many high-capacity electrical devices at the same time.
Customers also need to check the electrical system after the meter, replace electrical lines that do not meet technical standards to avoid unfortunate short circuits, fires, etc.
