The appeal of Hanoi's street food
When night falls, Hanoi’s Old Quarter transforms into a vibrant street food scene, where visitors can immerse themselves in the local lifestyle. Sitting on low plastic chairs, enjoying delicious food and watching people passing by is an indispensable part of the journey to explore the capital. Recently, tourist Ariane Cruz from Brazil had such a memorable experience on Ta Hien Street, where she first tasted the famous fried spring rolls.

"This restaurant is small but the tables are full of customers. I find it very interesting. The restaurant is so crowded, the food must be delicious," Ariane shared her excitement when she decided to stop at a crowded beer house.
Fried spring rolls: Street food star
At the suggestion of the staff, Ariane ordered a plate of fried spring rolls to go with her beer. This dish, also known as spring rolls in the South, is one of the typical representatives of Vietnamese cuisine and has been honored many times by international culinary magazines.
TasteAtlas has included fried spring rolls in the list of "100 best fried foods in the world" in early 2025 and "100 best appetizers in the world". Previously, CNN also voted this dish in the top "50 best foods in the world".

Flavors that conquer diners
When the hot spring rolls were brought out, Ariane was immediately attracted by their attractive appearance. The dish was served with a bowl of special sweet and sour sauce and a plate of fresh herbs. "So delicious. The spring rolls are fried crispy, the more you chew, the more impressive it is," she expressed her feelings right from the first bite.
The golden, crispy rice paper wraps around the filling, a harmonious combination of minced meat, wood ear mushrooms, vermicelli, eggs and chopped vegetables such as carrots and onions. Although she doesn't know exactly what all the ingredients are, Ariane commented: "The ingredients are combined perfectly, and it tastes even better with fish sauce. This fish sauce has a sour taste, like the taste of vinegar."

A valuable experience at a reasonable cost
One of the factors that surprised Ariane was the price of the food. "The food is delicious and the price is super cheap. A plate of fried spring rolls like this is only 16 Real (about 80,000 VND)," she said. Affordable prices and outstanding quality are big pluses of Hanoi street food.
In addition to the taste, the friendly attitude of the staff and the bustling, local atmosphere of the old town also contributed to creating a complete experience. Enjoying delicious food while immersing in the vibrant rhythm of the street left a deep impression on the female tourist.
