Slovakia has not yet returned to Russia expensive equipment delivered for the maintenance of MiG-29 fighter jets and has not paid for work performed after the maintenance agreement was canceled, Russia's Federal Service for Military- Technical Cooperation reported on Friday (March 31).
In 2009, the Slovak Ministry of Defense signed a contract with the Russian MiG Aircraft Corporation for the maintenance of MiG-29 fighter jets operating in the Slovak Air Force.
Meanwhile, the Russian side has strictly complied with all commitments throughout this period to maintain Slovakia's MiG-29 aircraft in a state of combat readiness, the Russian defense agency said.

“However, last year, the Slovak side unilaterally announced the cancellation of the agreement. Despite this, the issue of returning to Russia expensive equipment imported for aircraft maintenance as part of the implementation of contractual commitments, as well as payment for the services provided, remains unresolved,” the statement said.
Acting Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad announced on March 22 that Ukrainian experts are working to receive free MiG-29 fighter jets from Kiev. It is reported that four of the first 13 fighter jets that were decommissioned from the Slovak Air Force last year have been handed over to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation told TASS that Slovakia's delivery of fighter jets is a blatant violation of international commitments on the re-export of Russian weapons.
