Present in almost all areas of life
Speaking at the 9th National Chemistry Conference, organized by the Vietnam Chemical Association and Hanoi University of Science and Technology on November 29, Mr. Vuong Thanh Chung - Deputy Director of the Department of Chemicals ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) affirmed that chemicals are present in almost all areas of life, from agriculture, industry, processing, textiles and footwear, construction materials to medicine, high technology; playing an important role in socio-economic development.
According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Chemicals, the more the economy develops, the more important the role of the chemical industry becomes, because it is the source of essential raw materials for key economic sectors, creating the foundation for the development of science and technology, green economy and circular economy.

Appreciating the role of the chemical industry in social life and economic development, Mr. Phan Xuan Dung - Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations acknowledged that chemicals play an important role in many key industries such as: new materials, energy, environment, medicine and many other high-tech fields.
Vietnam is entering a new era of development, in which science and technology must have a particularly important position. The position of science and technology of the country cannot be separated from the development of the country.
Affirming that there is no rich and powerful country in the world that does not have a high position in science and technology, the President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations said that the world is witnessing many new scientific trends, therefore, the Vietnamese chemical industry has a great opportunity to deeply integrate, expand international cooperation and contribute more effectively to sustainable development programs.
Mr. Vuong Thanh Chung - Deputy Director of the Department of Chemicals informed that in recent years, thanks to the attention of the Party and the State, the chemical industry has made significant developments, contributing to improving domestic production capacity, gradually reducing dependence on imports, and gradually participating in the global value chain.
The Party and State's policies and guidelines on the development of the chemical industry are clearly defined. The chemical industry is a fundamental industry and is given priority for development. In particular, Decision No. 726/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister: Approving the Strategy for the Development of the Vietnamese Chemical Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2040 is an important step, creating a legal corridor for the industry to develop modernly and sustainably.
These orientations clearly demonstrate the determination of the Party and State in building a self-reliant, green and high-tech chemical industry.

Creating momentum for the chemical industry to "strive" in the new era
In response to the new development needs of the chemical industry, Dr. Do Duy Phi - President of the Vietnam Chemical Association said that with the theme "Vietnam Chemistry for green and sustainable development", the 9th National Chemistry Conference focuses on 4 main contents.
Firstly, the Strategy for the Development of the Chemical Industry to 2030, along with national scientific programs on pharmaceutical chemistry, materials, petrochemistry, and the environment. Secondly , scientific research projects and chemical fields in the context of the development of Industry 4.0, digital transformation, circular economy, climate change, green chemistry, and zero-emission agriculture.
Third , technical innovation initiatives, research methods, advanced scientific solutions, inventions, patents, modern equipment have been and will be able to be applied in production, and can be transferred to production facilities. Fourth , issues on training solutions, human resource development in the Vietnamese chemical industry. Fifth, introducing new products with high technology content.
In particular, the conference strongly oriented the contents of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, bringing science and technology closely to production and serving production. In particular, the scientific reports had diverse and rich content, gathering a large number of scientists to participate, opening up opportunities for mutual assistance, exchange and cooperation in the fields of research, training, production and business, serving the development of the chemical industry and bringing scientific works into life.
Highly appreciating the theme of the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Dang Chinh - Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that the 9th National Science Conference is a forum that crystallizes the intelligence, aspirations and missions of the Vietnamese chemical community in the new period.
The conference clearly reflects global trends, touching on strategic focuses in the country's development. That is, chemistry as a foundation, science and technology will become the pillar for the circular economy, for low-carbon technology, for new materials, for new energy and especially innovation, towards sustainable development.
The conference's sub-committees ranged from organic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, materials to energy, from polymers to synthetic materials, biochemistry, food, environment, materials and product characteristics, creating a comprehensive picture of Vietnam's chemical ecosystem.
Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Dang Chinh affirmed that the conference summarized the 5-year development period and set the starting point for a new development cycle: a cycle leading the Vietnamese chemical industry into a restructuring phase, rising up with science and technology, and green growth.
Mr. Vuong Thanh Chung - Deputy Director of the Department of Chemicals (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that Vietnam's chemical industry is facing a great opportunity to break through and become an important driving force of the economy.
With the new legal corridor, the attention of the Government, the support of the business community and scientists, Vietnam can completely build a modern, green, safe and self-reliant industrialization sector.
