In the program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023" with the theme "Information and Communication - a bright spot in the Vietnam - Laos cooperation relationship" at the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Cinema and Cultural Center, No. 41A Hung Vuong Street, Hue City, from November 11 to 15, the Foreign Affairs Department (VOV5) is the representative unit of the Voice of Vietnam, participating in the exhibition booth here. Participating in the festival for the first time, along with the 69-year history of broadcasting Lao language radio programs and the 78-year history of the Foreign Affairs Department, the Voice of Vietnam has been contributing to fostering the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The opening ceremony of the "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023" will take place on November 11, 2023 at the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Cinema and Cultural Center, 41A Hung Vuong Street, Hue City. The program is jointly organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province. This is the largest media festival organized with the participation of major press agencies of the two countries and the two provinces of Xalavan and Secong - two twin provinces of Thua Thien Hue Province.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, said: in addition to the booths of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam (VOV), VNA..., there are more than 50 other booths of information technology enterprises and enterprises in Hue participating in the Festival with the desire to promote their products to the Lao market: “Thua Thien Hue is a very progressive model in digital transformation and in changing the method from public administrative management to social management using digital technology. I really hope that on this occasion we will be able to do a lot of work, learn more about the models that localities are applying to social management and digital transformation. For example, cyberspace information management, digital transformation of the press and how to combine traditional and modern communication methods to increase efficiency. Within the framework of bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, this is also an opportunity for us to concretize part of the plan of the Conference Declaration. The External Relations Department (VOV5), Voice of Vietnam, attended this event with extremely careful preparation and a unique identity that cannot be found anywhere else. Ms. Pho Cam Hoa, Head of the External Relations Department, said that the press booth will be the focus of the Fair - Exhibition, therefore, the design and display are very important.
VOV's leadership has directly assigned VOV5 and the Lao Radio Program (VOV5's ASEAN 1 Department) to organize and implement preparations for the first event of the two countries' media. The VOV5 Leadership Board and the Lao Radio Program, ASEAN 1 Department determined that participating in this year's Festival is an opportunity to affirm the role and position of VOV in general and VOV5 in particular. Once again, VOV5's waves continue to extend the Vietnam - Laos friendship bridge.

Ms. Pho Cam Hoa, Head of the Foreign Affairs Department (VOV5), shared: “During its 69 years of formation and development, the Lao Language Program, one of 12 foreign language radio programs, has contributed to the development of the entire Department. The Lao Language Program has always done a good job of promoting and disseminating the image, land and people of Vietnam to Lao listeners, helping Lao listeners better understand Vietnam and support Vietnam's cause of building, defending and developing the country. Participating in this event, VOV5, especially, assigned the Lao Language Program to continue to carry out its mission and devote all its efforts to preparing for this meaningful event.”

Editors and reporters of the Lao radio program (VOV5) were extremely excited to personally prepare from designing the booth, printing promotional leaflets, summarizing VOV5's achievements, such as: domestic and international press awards, multimedia products... to bring a multi-dimensional view of the remarkable development of VOV as well as VOV5. Bui Thanh Nam, a young announcer of the Lao Radio Program, was very excited to participate in this important event: “The Vietnam-Laos Friendship Festival is really meaningful to those of us who work on the Lao Radio Program. This is an opportunity for the Lao program in particular and VOV in general to bring our image closer to the public of the two countries. When participating in the event, in addition to feeling honored and proud, we, the young editors, also feel that this is a heavy responsibility, and feel that we need to try harder to foster the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, Laos and Vietnam.”
