The family informed VietNamNet newspaper that artist Trung Vinh passed away at 2:25 a.m. on October 25 at his rented room in Lai Thieu, Binh Duong , at the age of 79.

That same morning, a priest from a church in Lai Thieu came to the house to perform a mass. Afterwards, his brother-in-law took his coffin to be cremated, and the ashes were sent to the church.

"We are short of people so we cannot hold a funeral," the family said.

Artist Trung Vinh was born in 1945, is the legendary drummer of the band Phuong Hoang (the other 3 members include musician Nguyen Trung Cang, musician Le Huu Ha and singer Elvis Phuong).

During the peak of Phuong Hoang, Trung Vinh was famous for his elegant and free drumming style, influencing many professional and amateur drummers across the country.

His career lasted about 15 years, including his time in the Phoenix band. After 1975, for many reasons, especially health, he gradually limited his performances and retired.

In 2021, VietNamNet reporters visited Trung Vinh and his wife - Ms. Duong Thi Hoang Minh at their 12m² rented house in Lai Thieu, Binh Duong.

In his old age, he suffered from high blood pressure and had three strokes, which caused his health to decline, brain damage, and paralysis of both legs from around 2015 to 2016.

Normally, Mrs. Minh takes care of all her husband's daily activities. Life is difficult and poor, but Mrs. Minh does not mind because they have lived together for more than 30 years.
