On March 8, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province detained Nguyen Van Nghia (30 years old, from Ca Mau ) to investigate the acts of murder and robbery.
Police also detained Phan Van Trung (23 years old, from An Giang ) to investigate the act of robbery.
According to authorities, Nghia is the suspect in the murder of a woman who sold water in Bien Hoa City to rob her, and Trung assisted Nghia in taking the victim's property.

Steal earrings to sell for money to buy drinks
On the evening of March 1, the Criminal Police Department of Dong Nai Province Police (PC02) received a report that Ms. TTTH (48 years old, from Da Nang City) was murdered at a coffee shop in An Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City.
PC02 Department presided over and coordinated with relevant units to examine the scene and the body. Thereby, it was discovered that the victim had both hands tied, his earlobes were torn, there were 2 knife wounds on his body, he was not wearing any pants, and his shirt was disheveled.
Through collecting initial statements from witnesses and related people, the police determined that the victim had lost 2 mobile phones and a pair of earrings. After 24 hours of investigation, PC02 Department coordinated with related units to arrest Nghia and Trung.
With a criminal record for theft, two previous convictions for drug addiction and disturbing public order, Nghia was stubborn and did not disclose any information. After many hours of persistent questioning by experienced investigators, the suspect admitted to having a previous relationship with the victim and committing the murder to rob her.

Initially, Nghia confessed that he lent the victim 20 million VND, but he did not pay back the money many times, so he killed the victim. At noon on March 1, Nghia drove Trung to the place where Ms. H. opened a coffee shop, then dropped Trung off at the shop to drink coffee.
Riding alone to the rented room, Nghia discovered Ms. H. was home alone, so he took advantage of the moment when she was not paying attention and stabbed her twice with a knife, then tied her hands with a rope. Next, the suspect robbed 2 cell phones and a pair of earrings, then drove Trung to District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, where he sold the earrings at a gold shop for 800,000 VND to buy drinks.
After that, Nghia drove alone to the Ho Chi Minh City National University Village (Dong Hoa Ward, Di An City, Binh Duong) to burn the clothes he was wearing when committing the crime, and threw the knife into the lake to destroy the evidence. As for the victim's cell phone, Nghia took it to a pawn shop in Di An City to pawn.
Caused dozens of daring robberies
In addition to the above case, the police suspect Nghia of committing many other robberies. However, during the interrogation process, the suspect refused to cooperate with the investigation agency.
Trung said that since the beginning of 2022, Nghia has committed about a dozen robberies by using a knife to hold female workers, couples, and prostitutes to their necks in deserted places to control and rob them of jewelry, cell phones, and motorbikes. Once, the suspect robbed a Vario motorbike at a park in Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province (around December 2022).
Dong Nai Provincial Police expanded the investigation to clarify the case, coordinating with the professional department of Binh Duong Provincial Police and Ho Chi Minh City Police to verify and clarify information about a number of robberies committed by the above suspects.
