More than 76,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City take the first exam to enter grade 10

This morning, June 6, more than 76,000 candidates for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year in Ho Chi Minh City took the Literature exam - the first subject of the exam.

According to the exam schedule of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City for this year's exam, the exam bag will be opened at 7:30 am on June 6. The invigilator will distribute the exam papers at 7:55 am and candidates will start taking the exam at 8 am. The Literature exam will take 120 minutes.

This is the first exam to be conducted according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program with many changes in structure and test format.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the test is designed to integrate reading comprehension and writing skills. The materials are completely outside the textbook. The content in the writing section is related to the text in the reading comprehension section.

This afternoon, candidates will take the Foreign Language exam, the test time is 90 minutes.

On June 7, students will take the Math test for 120 minutes. Candidates who wish to take the specialized or integrated 10th grade exam will take an additional 150-minute exam.

The 10th grade public school entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2025-2026 school year took place on June 6 and 7, with 76,435 candidates registering to take the exam - a decrease of more than 27,000 compared to last year.

Ho Chi Minh City arranged 142 examination sites (132 regular sites, 10 specialized sites) with 3,277 examination rooms. The whole industry mobilized 9,548 teachers to invigilate the exams and 1,846 support staff.

The expected exam marking time is June 8-25. The exam scores, benchmark scores and review time will be announced later by the Department of Education and Training, based on the actual marking progress and processing of results.

The 10th grade admission score is the sum of three subjects, plus priority and incentive points (if any). For specialized classes, the formula is the sum of the three above subjects with coefficient 1, plus the specialized subject score with coefficient 2.

On June 3, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training informed that after reviewing students' direct admission records, the total number of records eligible for direct admission to grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year is 944 records.

Of these, 81 students were admitted directly due to winning national and international awards in sports ; 105 students with physical disabilities were admitted directly and 758 students with intellectual disabilities were admitted directly.
