Research on using saline sand as roadbed

The Provincial People's Committee has just issued a document directing the Department of Transport, the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Transport Works and the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities: Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh, Nui Thanh, Dien Ban, Hoi An, Tam Ky and related departments, branches and units to base on the opinions of the Ministry of Transport to study, implement and apply the use of saline sand as roadbed in the province.

According to the official dispatch of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued a document announcing standards and regulations on salinity of agricultural land and aquaculture water surfaces as a basis for the use of sea sand for transport projects.

For areas with different environmental conditions, based on the farming and production conditions in the construction area where saline sand is expected to be used, and current regulations and standards, the Ministry of Transport recommends that investors, based on the test results of saline sand at the mine planned for exploitation, take measures to treat saline sand (if necessary), and base on the salinity after treatment to determine the scope of use of saline sand, develop a plan, and provide technical instructions for construction before starting construction.

During the implementation process, the Ministry of Transport requires investors to organize surveys, determine and decide on the scope of construction using saline sand; approve environmental monitoring outlines and select qualified consulting units to implement; approve technical instructions for construction - acceptance, organize the determination of estimates and survey norms.

At the same time, it is necessary to strictly control salinity before and during construction, arrange a drainage system to lead water from the staging area and the roadbed construction area to a suitable area; fully implement and meet the requirements of current standards on construction and acceptance.
