Pokémon TCG Pocket launched on October 30, 2024 and quickly became one of the most popular mobile games of the year, reaching over 10 million downloads in just its first two days. The game continues to maintain its appeal thanks to monthly updates and events that encourage players to open cards and build their collections. Although the card trading system had some problems at launch, players are still coming back thanks to the engaging gameplay. However, a new display error when opening card packs is attracting attention in the community.
Some Pokémon TCG Pocket players are experiencing a strange display bug when opening card packs, causing card images to appear distorted or unrecognizable.

Reddit user mole_man1992 shared screenshots of the bug they encountered in Pokémon TCG Pocket . They called the phenomenon “MissingNo,” a reference to one of the most notorious bugs from older versions. Specifically, each card in the faulty pack had graphical issues, including distorted images and rendering errors that looked like GPU overheating. The affected cards included Poochyena and Manaphy, with one of the cards being so badly corrupted that it was unrecognizable, leading many to call it a form of “digital misprint.”
Fortunately, this bug only appears when opening a pack and doesn’t have any lasting impact on your collection. According to mole_man1992, the cards return to normal as soon as they’re saved to your collection, unlike the MissingNo bug in Pokémon Red and Blue , which could corrupt your save game data.

There has been no official announcement from the developers yet, but it is likely that this bug will be fixed in an upcoming update. Some recent leaks about Pokémon TCG Pocket also revealed that a rare card distribution event could take place at the end of February. The event is expected to last until April 30, with three free packs from the Genetic Apex expansion, containing Pikachu, Charizard, and Mewtwo cards.
