QTO - “Exemplary, enthusiastic, responsible, dedicated to work, to the unit…”, that is the comment of cadres, party members and workers at Production Team No. 5 (Team 5), Economic-Defense Group 79 (KTQP 79) when mentioning Mr. Ngo Van Dung, member of the Executive Committee of the Departmental Trade Union, worker of Team 5. He is considered a “understanding, good worker” of the unit, always excellently completing all assigned targets and plans.

Born and raised in a poor farming family in Duong Thuy commune, Le Thuy district (old), now Tan My commune, Quang Tri province, Ngo Van Dung understood early on the value of labor and the will to rise up in life. In 2010, like many other rural youths, he joined the military service at Regiment 996, Provincial Military Command. In the military environment, with his tireless efforts, Dung was sent to study the Squad Leader class and continued to complete the reserve officer course at Military Region 4.

In 2012, after completing his military service and returning to his hometown, thanks to his "fate" with Uncle Ho's soldiers, Mr. Dung became a worker in Team 5, Economic Group 79, working in the profession of caring for and exploiting rubber trees.

According to Mr. Ngo Van Dung, the 79th Military Economic Group was established in 2005 in Sa Thay district, Kon Tum province (old). In August 2009, the unit marched to the mountainous area west of Le Thuy district (old), carrying out the mission assigned by the Army and Corps 15 to develop the socio-economy associated with strengthening national defense and security, the national defense posture in the three communes of Ngan Thuy, Kim Thuy, Lam Thuy, in Le Thuy district (old) - the living area of ​​the majority of Bru-Van Kieu ethnic minorities. After 16 years of construction and development, the 79th Military Economic Group has become a solid "fulcrum" in the middle of the Truong Son mountains and forests, together with the Party Committee and the government of Quang Tri province, taking better care of the lives of the people in the western region of Quang Tri.

In the early days of working as a worker at the 79th Military Economic Group, Mr. Dung encountered many difficulties due to the difficult roads; harsh climate and weather; and techniques for taking care of and exploiting rubber trees in the style of "catching bandits with bare hands" because he had not learned or known them. However, with the dedicated guidance and "hand-shaking" of his comrades and teammates in the unit, along with his perseverance in learning, improving his skills, practicing meticulousness in each tapping stroke, saving every drop of latex, and determination to improve productivity and product quality, he became a skilled worker.

In 2013, Mr. Dung fell in love and started a family with Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Giang, also a worker of Team 5. "Good land attracts birds", the couple decided to stay with the 79th Military Economic Group for a long time, taking care of 8.7 hectares of basic rubber plantation. By 2020, when the rubber plantation area began to be exploited, the couple was assigned to take charge of more than 6 parts of tapping.

Thanks to his dedication and sense of responsibility, the rubber output undertaken by Mr. Dung's family always exceeds the plan by 10%-15% each year, not only contributing to the overall achievements of Team 5 but also creating a stable income for the family from the initial starting point of 4-5 million VND/month, increasing to 11-12 million VND/month in 2024, at times reaching 14 million VND/month. In addition, Mr. Dung's family also focuses on developing a family economic model with 8 cows, growing acacia, raising fish, raising pigs and poultry... for a stable income of over 60 million VND/year. In 2023, Mr. Ngo Van Dung won the title of "Golden Hand" at the team-level rubber tapping contest organized by the 79th Military Economic Group.

“Excellent in production labor, exemplary, actively participating in emulation movements; united to help teammates, mobilize the masses and make important contributions to building a strong Party cell and unit” - that is the comment of Professional Soldier Captain Dang Quoc Cuong, Party Cell Secretary, Deputy Team 5 about First Lieutenant, Reserve Officer Ngo Van Dung. “Despite difficult family conditions, living far from home, with young children, comrade Ngo Van Dung always has a stable mindset, is confident in his work, actively competes in production labor, correctly implements technical processes for caring for and exploiting rubber latex, takes the lead in all tasks, becoming an exemplary role model not only in the production team but also in the entire unit”, said Mr. Cuong.

Ngo Van Dung's persistent efforts and dedication have been recognized through many noble awards: 6 consecutive years (2018-2024) of achieving the title of Party member with excellent performance; 6 years of achieving the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level; Certificate of Merit from the Minister of National Defense (2021); Certificate of Merit from the Party Committee of Army Corps 15 (2020-2024); Certificate of Merit from the Army Corps 15 Command at the Emulation Congress for Victory in the period 2019-2024...

Mr. Ngo Van Dung shared: The years in the military environment have trained me to be responsible and dedicated in everything, anytime, anywhere. Therefore, no matter what I do, I always try to research, learn, and do my best. Always maintain and promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers with the determination to train, strive, and cultivate constantly; words must go hand in hand with actions, maintain the will to fight, promote strengths, overcome shortcomings so that each person becomes better, Team 5 becomes better and the whole unit becomes stronger. I always remember Uncle Ho's teachings: "Nothing is difficult. Only fear that the heart is not steadfast...!".
