That was the direction of Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam when inspecting the progress of this project on July 18.
The coastal road project connecting the East-West economic corridor of Quang Tri province, phase 1 has a total length of 48km, passing through the communes of Cua Tung, Vinh Hoang, Cua Viet, Gio Linh, Ben Hai, Trieu Binh, Nam Cua and Nam Dong Ha ward. The total investment of the project is 2,731,779 billion VND, the implementation period is 2021-2027. The total land area occupied by the project is about 212.58 hectares.
The project affected 2,004 cases, of which 160 affected households had to be resettled. Accordingly, 6 resettlement areas were built in 3 districts of Vinh Linh, Gio Linh and Trieu Phong (old) with a total capital of more than 100 billion VND.
However, up to this point (July 18), only 3 resettlement areas are currently leveling the ground, the remaining 3 resettlement areas have not been able to start construction due to being entangled in protective forest land and some other reasons.

In Trieu Binh commune, 112 households were affected, of which 22 households were forced to resettle. In An Loi hamlet alone (formerly Trieu Do commune), 6 households had to be relocated because their houses were located right next to the Thach Han 1 bridge pier under construction.
According to the plan, by the end of June, the authorities had to arrange land for resettlement households. But up to this point, 6 households here have only been handed over land on paper. People are upset and petitioning, but the local authorities are currently unable to resolve the issue because they are dependent on the construction unit.

Reporting to the Inspection Team of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee on resolving the land clearance problems of the Trieu Binh resettlement area under the East-West Economic Corridor Coastal Road Project, Phase 1 on July 18, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu - Chairman of the Trieu Binh Commune People's Committee - said: The delay in completing this resettlement area is mainly due to the construction unit showing signs of procrastination and negligence in implementing the project. The number of construction machinery and human resources can be counted on one hand. Even before that, the leaders of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee (old) had urged the construction unit to speed up the progress, but currently the workload is still slow.
From the actual inspection of the coastal road project connecting the East-West economic corridor and the resettlement area of Trieu Binh commune, Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam requested functional units to urgently complete the report, clarify the problems, and submit it to the Provincial People's Committee for direction and handling.
Functional units must have a detailed weekly work report sent to the Provincial People's Committee before 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The report must clearly state the difficulties and the authority to handle specific contents so that the Provincial People's Committee can have a plan.
"Regarding the resettlement areas of this project, it is necessary to closely monitor the construction units. If any unit is found to be slow and not performing as committed, it is recommended that the Provincial People's Committee have sanctions, including issuing a notice to restrict rights, not allowing bidding, and implementing construction projects in Quang Tri province.
In addition, the project management authorities, investors, and related units must also strictly implement management work and must not be negligent, leading to errors in the implementation process. Any unit that fails to complete its tasks must be publicly punished,” said Mr. Hoang Nam.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has set a deadline for the construction unit of the resettlement area of Trieu Binh commune to complete the site by the end of August to arrange land for households to build resettlement houses. The contractor must quickly complete related items by the end of October this year. The relevant units will study the plan and continue to support funding to arrange temporary residence for the above households to wait for resettlement land to be handed over in the coming time.
