At around 6-7pm on October 23, high tides caused flooding in some places in Ho Chi Minh City such as National Highway 13, Tran Xuan Soan Street, Huynh Tan Phat Street, Nguyen Van Linh Street, Thanh Da area...
In addition to affecting traffic, high tides also disrupt people's daily lives.
By 10 a.m. on October 24, the high tide in Thanh Da area (Binh Quoi ward) had receded, but some alleys were still flooded, such as alleys 370 and 326 on Binh Quoi street.
According to residents living in the alleys mentioned above, from around 6pm on October 23, the tide rose, water from the Saigon River began to overflow onto the street. In just 30 minutes, water flooded into houses, leaving many people unable to react, and household items were submerged. Many people quickly built barriers or used buckets to scoop the water out.

Similarly, people living on Tran Xuan Soan Street, Tan Thuan Ward, said that at around 7 p.m. on October 23, the high tide submerged the wheels of cars, disrupting traffic and business.
Mr. Nguyen Van, a resident, shared: "After a night of "living" with the high tide, this morning, October 24, when the high tide receded, we had to work hard to clean the house, dry clothes, and blankets that were wet due to flooding." According to Mr. Van, this situation happens almost every month.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in the past 24 hours, the highest peak water level of the day at most stations on the Saigon River rose rapidly following the high tide period in early September of the lunar calendar.
At 7:00 a.m. on October 24, the highest tide of the day at some stations was as follows: Nha Be station, Dong Dien canal, water level reached 1.62m, above alarm level 3 (on October 23, water level reached 1.78m); Phu An station, Saigon river, water level reached 1.67m, above alarm level 3 (on October 23, water level reached 1.77m); Thu Dau Mot station, Saigon river, water level reached 1.79m, above alarm level 3 (on October 23, water level reached 1.86m).

It is forecasted that the highest water level at most stations on the Saigon River will likely be high on October 25 and 26.
This is a high tide period, so we need to be on guard against heavy rain combined with rising tides causing flooding in low-lying areas and riverside areas, affecting traffic and socio- economic activities.
