Mr. Nguyen Duc Quy (residing in Binh Quoi ward) was heartbroken when 4 tons of fish fry in the pond were swept away by the flood tide on the evening of October 23, causing an estimated loss of about 80 million VND. Mr. Nguyen Thuy Truong, Binh Quoi Ward, sighed and said: “I have lived here for decades, so I am no stranger to high tides. However, last night I saw the tide rise so quickly. Tables, chairs, refrigerators, and televisions were not raised high enough so they were damaged a lot.”
Although he has been running a fishing pond in Binh Quoi for many years, Mr. Do Quoc Su was “caught off guard” when the high tide flooded his pond on the evening of October 23. “I could only stand there and watch the water rush into the pond, helpless. All the fish in the pond were swept away by the water,” Mr. Su said regretfully.
On the afternoon of October 24, Mr. Nguyen Thuy Thach was stunned by the sight of severely damaged furniture in his house. Near Binh Quoi ferry terminal at 7:00 p.m., water rose and flooded residential streets. On the evening of October 24, functional forces of Binh Quoi ward continued to be on duty and check key locations.
