Along with her passion for science, she is also a "ferryman", inspiring academics and awakening the love of science for many generations of students.
Education is linked to scientific research.
During more than 20 years of teaching and research at the University of Sciences, Hue University, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Nhung has always worked with the motto: "Education must be associated with scientific research, scientific research must aim to solve practical problems of society". Since then, she has constantly innovated teaching methods, taking learners as the center, encouraging critical thinking, promoting creativity, closely linking theory and practice, experiments, simulations and practical applications.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ai Nhung, to realize this motto, the school, the Institute and the Faculty have gradually built a system of modern training and academic facilities, including learning spaces, academic exchanges, specialized laboratories on chemistry, natural pharmaceuticals, preparation areas and production workshops to serve learners.
“It is these foundations that help the teaching and learning process not only stop at the lecture hall, but also expand to the real research environment, where learners have access to modern equipment and directly experience the scientific creation process. This is also a valuable source of materials to promote the training image of the University of Sciences, Hue University to domestic and foreign students. We consider education and science - technology not only as tools to serve expertise, but also as a bridge between knowledge and practice”, Ms. Ai Nhung shared.
Scientific research projects with high applicability
The research works of Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ai Nhung and her team focus on extracting and enriching natural bioactive compounds from indigenous and endemic medicinal plants of Vietnam such as Distichochlamys spp., Aspidistra spp., Lactuca indica L., Cordyceps spp... to develop products to support respiratory disease prevention, improve and enhance health.
She and her research team have developed more than 30 products with valuable applications such as essential oils, health care products, herbal teas, medicinal mushrooms, biological products, etc. These projects not only contribute to the conservation and development of indigenous medicinal resources, but also open up many practical applications in medicine and sustainable agriculture, contributing to protecting public health and improving the quality of life.
“To implement a topic or project, my research team and I always survey the real needs of society, taking the motto 'research linked to life' as a guiding principle. The products are developed to solve urgent problems of public health and sustainable agriculture, with the criteria of safety, reasonable cost, and easy accessibility for all classes. Thanks to the 'from lab to market' approach, many of the group's products not only have scientific value but are also well received by consumers, contributing to honoring the value of Vietnamese medicinal herbs,” said Ms. Nhung.
