Last night, in a seemingly easy match against Leicester, Nottingham surprisingly drew 2-2. They fell behind early but took the lead early in the second half. However, in the 84th minute, a defensive error cost the club the victory.

With Aston Villa beating Bournemouth, Nottingham have lost hope of finishing in the Top 5, meaning they will not be able to qualify for the European Cup next season. Notably, this team played very well in the early stages of the season, continuously shocking the big teams and standing before the opportunity to return to the European Cup for the first time in 45 years. However, 4 consecutive matches without a win at the end of the season made them face the possibility of throwing away all their efforts.

The recent poor performances seem to have upset owner Evangelos Marinakis. He rushed onto the pitch and expressed his harsh attitude towards coach Nuno Espirito. He is looking for an explanation from his head coach.

Taiwo Awoniyi was injured in a heavy collision

But when sharing with the press, Coach Espirito said that what the Nottingham owner said focused on Taiwo Awoniyi, who was injured after colliding with the goal and limping for the rest of the match. The owner questioned why Taiwo Awoniyi was not replaced, allowing him to play with poor physical condition and eventually the home team conceded a goal.

Coach Nuno Espirito's explanation was that he had been told by the club's medical team that the player was fine to continue. "Football is about emotions. It's difficult to control your emotions, especially when we had so many expectations for today's game," coach Espirito said when asked by Sky Sports about the incident. "There was confusion about Taiwo Awoniyi's situation."

But whatever the explanation, the Nottingham owner's actions were deemed disrespectful. Former player Gary Neville responded: "It's a disgrace to listen to the Nottingham owner. Nuno Espirito should negotiate his departure tonight! Nottingham fans, players and managers don't deserve to be treated like this."
