Danger of spontaneous night squid fishing tour on Nhat Le beach

At a regular press conference held by the People's Committee of Quang Binh province on April 7, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quy, Director of the Department of Tourism of Quang Binh province, affirmed that currently, no unit has been licensed to take tourists to squid fishing in the province in general and on Nhat Le beach in particular.

The fact that people spontaneously take tourists to squid fishing at night on Nhat Le beach is potentially dangerous.

Taking tourists to go squid fishing at night on Nhat Le beach is currently spontaneous, organized by some fishermen with fishing boats in communes and wards of Dong Hoi city. In fact, licensing to open squid fishing tours on Nhat Le beach at night is clearly not simple because there are many risk factors such as: means of transport, weather, plans to ensure safety for tourists... and related to many local departments and agencies (police, border guards, ward and commune authorities...).

"We have raised the issue at many inter-sectoral meetings, but no unit has yet submitted an application for permission to organize this tour, although the demand is real. Although it is difficult, if any unit submits an application for permission to open a night squid fishing tour on Nhat Le beach, we will study it with relevant parties," said Mr. Quy.

According to Mr. Quy, in the immediate future, the Department of Tourism will seek support from functional forces (police and border guards) to rectify the situation of spontaneously opening night squid fishing tours on Nhat Le beach. "There have been no accidents yet, but if an accident were to happen, the consequences would be unpredictable," Mr. Quy said.
