The men's singles championship title at the recent Iran international badminton tournament helped Nguyen Hai Dang accumulate an additional 4,000 points, thanks to which the junior of tennis player Nguyen Tien Minh "jumped" 15 places, from 97th to 82nd in the world .

Nguyen Hai Dang is ready to conquer the Azerbaijan international badminton tournament

With this new ranking, Nguyen Hai Dang is among the players temporarily qualified to participate in the men's singles event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, the race for tickets is "fierce" because this group is close to each other in terms of points. In addition to international opponents, Nguyen Hai Dang also competes with his teammate in the Vietnamese badminton team, Le Duc Phat, who is only 1 place below him on the rankings.

On April 30, 2024, BWF will finalize the list of athletes participating in the Paris Olympics, so Nguyen Hai Dang and Le Duc Phat actively participate in international tournaments suitable to their abilities to accumulate the maximum number of points. That is also the reason why these two players temporarily put aside their Tet holidays with their families to travel to Baku (Azerbaijan) to compete in an international badminton tournament in the Challenge system similar to the tournament in Iran.

Le Duc Phat promises to go deep in the Azerbaijan international badminton tournament

At the Azerbaijan International Badminton Tournament taking place from February 8 to 11, Nguyen Hai Dang had an unfavorable draw when he had to face third seed Jeon Hyeok-jin (Korea, world No. 55) in the first round. Meanwhile, Le Duc Phat had an easier time when he met Luis Ramon Garrido (Mexico, world No. 80). Both Vietnamese players will compete tomorrow with the hope of winning to advance further in the tournament.
