Nguyen Thao released an album after nearly 20 years

Nguyen Thao - a famous singer in the 2000s - released the album "Smile", which was cherished for 16 years, in collaboration with musician Vo Thien Thanh.

The project is the singer's second studio album, following Stream and grass (2006, produced by musician Duong Thu and Anh Quan). The album includes six songs composed by Vo Thien Thanh, corresponding to the singer's experiences and life experiences at each stage of his life.

Nguyen Thao opens the album with the song Dew on the Grass , then sings about the desire of love, youth in Miss you, Wild sunflower . Children in Heaven is a stream of emotions about the fate of children, about "human love like a leaf swirling in the dusty afternoon". Nguyen Thao closes the album with two songs revolving around the perception of life - Smile and One day suddenly remembered .

The album was inspired by the times Nguyen Thao and Vo Thien Thanh sipped coffee and chatted. Each time, they discussed the book. Dialogue with God (Neale Donald Walsch), came up with the idea to carry out the project. With the theme of nature, love, compassion, the singer spent many years with his colleagues to contemplate and experience. The first song Grass dew Written in 2010, the album's final track - Smile - Completed in 2023. "In addition to our perfectionist and aesthetic nature, it also took us a long time because we were pursuing a difficult topic, with a completely new musical style for both of us, from harmony, melody to words," said Vo Thien Thanh.

Returning to the studio after many years, Nguyen Thao said she chose a singing style that shows composure and freedom to convey the spirit of Vo Thien Thanh's music . "I hope that if the listener is happy, they will feel complete. If they are sad, they will also find peace of mind," she said.

Nguyen Thao, 44 years old, started her career in the early 2000s. In the early days of her career, to earn money for singing lessons, she performed at weddings, coffee shops, and tea rooms. In 2006, her name suddenly became famous in the program Vietnamese songs with Dream named after me (Composer: Van Phong). The song entered the top Best Songs of the Year, her live recording was well received by many audiences. In the same year, she met Duong Thu and was supported by him and the Anh Quan - Huy Tuan team to complete her first CD - Stream and grass .

The album quickly resonated with both experts and fans, and was nominated Album of the Year at the 2006 Dedication Award. With her deep voice and skillful technique, she was compared by the media as fifth diva of Vietnamese music, alongside Thanh Lam, Hong Nhung, My Linh, Tran Thu Ha. In 2022, after a period of "hiding", she unexpectedly contributed her voice to the song Bring money home to mom by rapper Den Vau.
