During the State visit to Vietnam by Brazilian President Lula da Silva (March 27-29) at the invitation ofPresident Luong Cuong, the two sides held a ceremony to hand over a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in many fields. The event took place at the Presidential Palace on the morning of March 28.
The cooperation agreement between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) was one of the documents presented at the ceremony. Striker Nguyen Xuan Son and VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan were the representatives of Vietnamese football to perform the document presentation ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, Nguyen Xuan Son was about to return to his seat when the 27-year-old striker was warmly greeted by President Luong Cuong and Brazilian President Lula da Silva. Brazilian President Lula da Silva was also very excited to take a photo with the striker of the Vietnamese national team after a friendly conversation.
Nguyen Xuan Son (formerly Rafaelson) is a Brazilian striker who became a Vietnamese citizen at the end of 2024. This striker shone brightly on the journey to win the ASEAN Cup of the Vietnamese national team with 7 goals, thereby winning the double title of Top Scorer and Best Player of the tournament.
Currently, Nguyen Xuan Son is undergoing treatment for a fractured fibula and tibia suffered in the second leg of the ASEAN Cup final. It is expected that Nguyen Xuan Son will be able to return to the field next September.
