Construction started in October 2021 and was inaugurated in July 2023 with a scale of 5,000 m2, invested in by the Ministry of Public Security and the Hanoi People's Committee, Hoan Kiem Theater is located in a prime location rich in cultural values of the capital, just a few hundred meters from Hoan Kiem Lake. At the same time, this is a project built during the COVID-19 period but in a very short time of only 22 months.
With a beautiful, modern design associated with national cultural identity and a solemn, tranquil space; advanced, modern equipment applying leading technology, Ho Guom Theater meets all the conditions to become a place to organize political, cultural and artistic events, contributing to promoting cultural tourism and socio-economic development of Hanoi.
The building has 6 floors above ground and 3 underground floors, including a main auditorium with up to 900 seats, a small concert hall with 500 seats, and exhibition areas, art exhibitions and other auxiliary works. The main stage can rotate and is large enough to accommodate up to 90 musicians, while the design of the auditorium maximizes the audience's view.
The building is also designed very elaborately with over-floor and over-span spaces. Audiences can take a double elevator or spiral staircase from the 1st floor to the 6th floor on both sides. Every design detail of the lobby roof system and the interior of the theater recreates a part of the history of the Vietnamese people through traditional patterns symbolizing Vietnamese culture such as: Dong Son bronze drums, cranes, decorative images such as golden turtles handing over swords or lacquer paintings. Inside the large auditorium space is decorated with stylized lines from the image of rice flowers in the familiar logo of the Vietnam People's Public Security force.
