Attending the opening ceremony were Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi Hoang Mai and representatives of the creative team, artists and actors of Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater.
The musical “Bien Mo – Uoc Hen Kim Giao” is directed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, organized by Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater, bringing together many famous artists in the field of theater and music . The program has the participation of People's Artist Hong Phong as General Director; Meritorious Artist Phung Tien Minh as Stage Director; Musician Le Anh Thuy as Music Director; People's Artist Doan Bang as stage designer; Musician Dinh Tien Dung as Scriptwriter; Meritorious Artist Duc Hoai as Assistant Director; the choreography is performed by People's Artist Hong Phong, Artist Hai Truong and Artist Minh Duc. The sound and arrangement is undertaken by a group of artists including Le Anh Thuy, Xuan Binh, Minh Dai, Duc Tan, Sy Thang, Anh Minh, Van Phong, Hien VK and Hoang Linh. Musician Quang Thien is the performance conductor. The program's artistic director is People's Artist Khanh Hoa - Director of Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater.
With elaborate investment and the participation of a team of experienced artists, the program promises to bring a quality stage work, contributing to enriching the cultural and artistic life of the Port City.
“Bien Mo – Uoc Hen Kim Giao” is a musical based on folk legends associated with Cat Ba – Hai Phong such as the legend of Cat Ba Island, Cat Ong, Kim Giao Forest… The story revolves around the beautiful, faithful love story of a man and a woman in the context of Van Lang country during the reign of the 6th Hung King, when the people were fighting together against the invading An invaders.
Through an emotional storyline, the musical “Bien Mo – Uoc Hen Kim Giao” honors the beauty of the soul and the resilient spirit of the people of the South; praises the loyal and courageous qualities of women, and the bravery and sacrifice of men on the front lines of the Fatherland. The work also provides a vivid explanation in artistic language about the origin of the names of places: Cat Ba Island, Cat Ong Island and Kim Giao Forest – sacred symbols of loyalty, honesty and national spirit.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the play, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi Hoang Mai emphasized: This is the first program launched by the Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater - a professional art unit with more than 60 years of operation, formerly the Hai Phong Drama Troupe and the Hai Phong Song and Dance Troupe. The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism expressed his belief that, with the dedication of the creative team and the serious artistic work spirit of the artists, the musical will become a typical cultural product, contributing to spreading the value of contemporary art and promoting the development of the city's cultural industry in the coming time.
Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, the creative team and artists and actors entered the stage of finalizing the program to report to the City Arts Council, ready for the premiere performance to serve the people of Hai Phong and audiences nationwide in the near future.
