At the " Lao Cai Brocade Festival - Cultural Colors" recently held in Sa Pa town (Lao Cai province), designer Vu Thao Giang brought a collection of brocade ao dai with special cultural colors of the Tay ethnic group, her ethnic group.

“Lao Cai Brocade Festival - Cultural Colors” with the theme “Sa Pa - Brocade of the Misty and Cloudy Land” has become a place for Tay designer Vu Thao Giang to tell the story of her Tay ethnic group through brocade.

The collection named “Mother’s Color” used indigo fabrics, brocade colors deeply engraved in the memories of the Tay ethnic girl Vu Thao Giang. The image of Mother sitting weaving in the midst of floating clouds is a story about the crystallization of colors of the ingenuity, hands, and intelligence of ethnic minority women in the highlands passed down through many generations, considered a symbol of the spiritual and cultural life, closely associated with the fine customs of the Tay ethnic group.

“Mother's Color” skillfully and harmoniously uses many traditional fabrics such as indigo, velvet and the vibrant colors of brocade combined with the main warm and sweet color tone.

The collection “Mê's Color” has many old brocade images that are no longer widely available and have been and are being lost due to many objective reasons, such as wild flowers.... “Mê's Color” includes products designed in the direction of cultural industry, combining creativity, production and commercialization of fashion design products and cultural products (tangible and intangible) of the handicraft industry.

With this collection, the designer Vu Thao Giang We want to promote the colors of brocade along with promoting tourism associated with indigenous culture, preserving the traditional brocade weaving customs as a pride in the traditional origin of our people: "Other people's houses have bamboo looms, bamboo looms/Our house has a bulky weaving frame leaning against a fence" (Tay Nghia Do Proverb).
