Musician Vu Xuan Hung, who translated 'Anh thi khong', passed away

For nearly half a century of translating songs, musician Vu Xuan Hung has contributed to enriching and sublimating Vietnam's musical life and has helped many generations of singers make their mark in the hearts of music lovers.

Musician Vu Xuan Hung has over 100 foreign songs translated and 3 youth music collections with songs always associated with many leading singers such as: Thanh Lan, Ngoc Lan, Nguyen Chanh Tin, Y Lan, Duy Quang, Le Uyen Phuong...

Many of the songs he translated have transcended time and are loved by many generations of audiences, such as: Doll without love , You don't, Sad movie story, River of childhood , Tell me how to understand , Love song with cheaters , Wandering , Kiss under the rain ... It can be said that the lasting success over time of foreign music with Vietnamese lyrics originates from the passion and sublimation of emotions of the translator himself.

Musician Vu Xuan Hung taught foreign languages ​​and philosophy at many schools in Saigon before 1975. In 1972, while teaching, he was invited by Mr. Quoc Phong - Director of Lien Anh Film Studio to become General Secretary of the Weekly Drama Magazine . With the criteria of renewing and rejuvenating this famous music and cinema newspaper, he, along with writer Mai Thao (editor-in-chief), musicians Pham Duy, Truong Ky, Nam Loc... launched the movement to Vietnamize youth music.

He then settled in the US. In 1997, he and his wife Xuan Hoa returned to Vietnam and founded the Tieng Xua Musical Theater. Here, in addition to editing and organizing music nights and being an MC, he also staged many musicals based on famous songs such as: Hon vong phu , Trau cau , Cung dan xua , Tieng zither toi , Tieng flute thien thai , Moi tinh Truong Chi , Lan va Diep ... Along with the activities of the theater, musician Xuan Hung and his wife also staged music programs in Vietnam with high artistic value.
