Báo Ninh ThuậnBáo Ninh Thuận05/06/2023

Promoting the revolutionary tradition and the morality of “When drinking water, remember its source”, in recent times, the Party Committee, government and people in the province have paid attention to and taken good care of the lives of war invalids, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services. Many meaningful and practical actions demonstrating responsibility and gratitude for the contributions and dedication of people with meritorious services are being spread and multiplied in the community.

In early May, we and the staff of Phuoc My Ward (Phan Rang - Thap Cham City) visited the family of war invalid To Van Hung, Ward 4, who had just received support to build a house of gratitude. In the new solid house, joy was clearly visible on Mr. Hung's face. It is known that in 1978, Mr. Hung participated in international service in Cambodia. During the war, he was seriously injured in 61% of his leg, so after his discharge, his life encountered many difficulties. The older he got, the more he struggled with his dream of rebuilding a house that had long been dilapidated. Understanding his thoughts and wishes, the locality quickly supported 50 million VND from the "Repaying gratitude" Fund to build a new house. He shared: Over the years, my family has always enjoyed all the preferential policies for NCC. However, due to persistent illness, the economy has increasingly deteriorated, and we are not able to build a new house. Thanks to the local people's help to have a clean and beautiful house, I am extremely happy and promise myself to try harder to improve my life.

Officials of Phuoc My ward (Phan Rang - Thap Cham city) visited Mr. To Van Hung's house, which had just been supported with a house of gratitude.

Not only Mr. Hung, in 2022, in the province, 43 NCC households were supported to build gratitude houses from the "Repaying gratitude" Fund at all levels, with an amount of over 2 billion VND. Thereby promptly solving the difficulties of degraded and damaged housing, helping NCC settle down and stabilize their lives. In addition, the Front at all levels also supported the construction of 11 Great Solidarity houses for poor households whose members are revolutionary contributors, with a total value of 550 million VND from the "For the Poor" Fund. The houses built from the gratitude and cooperation of the community have contributed to supporting and helping NCC improve the quality of their material and spiritual life.

Currently, in our province, there are 3,061 policy beneficiaries and revolutionary veterans. In addition to promptly and synchronously implementing monthly support policies and regimes in accordance with regulations, all levels, sectors and localities have proactively developed and implemented meaningful and practical "Repaying gratitude" movements and activities. Through that, we have received the active response and participation of units, organizations and people in the province, creating a strong spread in the community. Typically, in 2022, responding to the launch of the "Repaying gratitude" Fund, hundreds of units, organizations, businesses and individuals joined hands to donate 2.7 billion VND to the "Repaying gratitude" Fund to support and care for the material and spiritual life of revolutionary veterans; donated 11 savings books, worth 135 million VND; received lifelong care for 3 living Vietnamese heroic mothers; Organize health check-ups and consultations; build, repair and embellish works to register martyrs, martyr cemeteries... In addition, on holidays, New Year, and commemoration of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, units, organizations, local leaders and people have visited, given gifts, cared for and encouraged the spirit of NCC.

Thanks to the timely attention of all levels, sectors and localities, war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs' families and NCC have promoted the revolutionary tradition, the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement to develop the economy and participate in social activities. Many war invalids and families of policy beneficiaries have risen out of poverty, becoming shining examples in the community. Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, said: With the joint efforts of the community, the work of building and supporting the "Repaying gratitude" Fund and participating in the "Repaying gratitude" movements has promoted the combined strength, constantly developing both in breadth and depth, becoming a beauty in social life. Currently, 65/65 communes, wards and towns are recognized for doing a good job in the work of war invalids, sick soldiers and NCC, typically: Dai Son Ward (Phan Rang - Thap Cham City), An Hai Commune, Phuoc Thuan Commune (Ninh Phuoc); Cong Hai commune, Phuoc Chien commune (Thuan Bac)... Thereby, contributing to ensuring social security as well as creating conditions for NCC to continue to contribute to the cause of building and developing the homeland to become more and more prosperous.
