Co Su Duoi village has 33 households, 189 people, 100% of whom are Mong people. After prolonged heavy rains due to the impact of storm No. 3, at the highest point of the village, a crack about 200 m long and 30 cm wide appeared, with a high risk of landslides, directly affecting the lives of 17 households, 01 cultural house and 01 classroom. Faced with the above situation, the Management Board of Co Su Duoi village urgently reported and requested the policy of evacuating households in the risk area to a safe place.
Mr. Vang A Da - Head of Co Su Duoi Village, Chieng Cong Commune, Muong La District, Son La Province: After grasping the situation at the top of the village, there was a risk of landslides, so I promptly reported to the commune Party Committee and authorities. The commune reported to the district to check and found that the risk of landslides was high and we had to move immediately. The district directed the Military Command to build temporary shelters for us and I also mobilized the people who were at risk of landslides to move to temporary shelters up here. The people agreed and supported the relocation of people .
The camp area was built about 1 km away from the old village. To ensure the safety of people's lives and property, Muong La district mobilized 120 union members, youths, cadres, soldiers of units and forces to support 17 households of Co Su Duoi village to move their properties to temporary accommodation; directed local forces to install 10 tents as temporary accommodation for households while finding resettlement solutions for the households. The tents all have electricity and running water to serve the households; disinfection work at the temporary camp area was also carried out immediately afterwards.
Mr. Mua A Pao Chua, Co Su Duoi Village, Chieng Cong Commune, Muong La District, Son La Province: Our village was damaged by landslides and cannot be lived in. We have to move to this temporary shelter. We hope that the district and local authorities will pay attention to finding us a new place to live, so we can feel more secure. We hope to quickly have a place to resettle and build a solid house to stabilize our lives.
Chieng Cong Kindergarten in Co Su Duoi village is also located in a dangerous area, so teachers and students have been arranged to move to a temporary study place at a household near the camp site to ensure safety. Although the temporary classroom is lacking, the teacher and 14 students of Co Su Duoi village school are still making efforts every day, trying to overcome difficulties to pursue education.
Teacher Quang Thi Xuan - Teacher of Co Su Kindergarten class below, Chieng Cong Kindergarten, Chieng Cong Commune, Muong La District, Son La: Because the classroom below is at risk of landslides, we have moved the students to live in temporary classrooms of the people above. The most difficult thing is that the classroom's housing is not stable, so we hope that the Board of Directors and the district will create conditions for us and the students to have a more stable classroom.
Faced with the damage caused by natural disasters, Muong La district is focusing on directing communes and towns to continue to proactively respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters according to the "4 on-site" motto; closely following the locality, promptly grasping and handling emerging emergency situations, minimizing damage to people and property of the State and People.
Mr. Mua A Lu - Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Cong Commune, Muong La District, Son La: Co Su village below, due to storm No. 3, has had a lot of rain, so there is water seepage affecting the village, the risk of landslides is very high, we also hope that the Party, the State and higher levels will consider and create the fastest conditions to ensure the people's lives are stable, currently the people are only living in huts, we hope that the Party, the State and higher levels will pay attention and clear the land for the people of Co Su village below to stabilize soon).
