In the face of increasingly sophisticated and unpredictable threats, the new strategy is expected to focus on measures such as strengthening public-private partnerships, developing cybersecurity human resources and promoting international cooperation.

During a meeting chaired by Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi at the Government Cybersecurity Strategy Headquarters, delegates agreed on the need to strengthen defense capabilities by monitoring signs of hard-to-detect attacks on administrative agencies and critical infrastructure.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of applying secure encryption technology against quantum attacks, and proposed supporting small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their cybersecurity defense capabilities.

These guidelines come after the Japanese parliament passed a law allowing for active cyber defense actions earlier this month.

The act empowers the government to monitor communications data in peacetime and allows it to disable hostile servers in the event of a cyber attack.

According to the plan, by the end of 2025, the structure of the Cyber ​​Security Strategy Headquarters will be reformed, with the Prime Minister directly assuming the command role./.
