Global Vietnamese Singing Contest 2025 kicks off in Hanoi

This year's jury includes names with many years of experience in the Vietnamese music industry, notably musician Luu Thien Huong, famous singer Y Lan, and "Rock Queen" Ngoc Anh.

On the afternoon of May 30, in Hanoi, the "Global Vietnamese Singing 2025" contest officially launched with many new features, providing a playground for Vietnamese people who love singing around the world .

According to Mr. Henry Nguyen, Head of the Organizing Committee, this year's competition will focus entirely on Vietnam, not exploiting contestants from Europe like the previous two seasons. Instead, the winning contestants will have the opportunity to participate in European tours, performing for the overseas Vietnamese community.

“Focusing on organizing the contest in Vietnam this year is a strategic move to develop the contest in depth, creating a stronger spread domestically, and at the same time laying the foundation for expanding globally in the next season. In fact, although this year's contestants are mainly from Vietnam, the global spirit is still maintained, from the participation of the jury, the overseas Vietnamese community watching and voting. The 'global' aspect is not only in geography, but also in the mindset of connection,” said Mr. Henry Nguyen.

This year’s jury includes names with many years of experience in the Vietnamese music industry, notably musician Luu Thien Huong (Head of the Jury), famous singer Y Lan, famous singer Manh Dinh, “Queen of Rock” Ngoc Anh and many other artists. The coaching panel includes singers/musicians Sy Luan, Giang Hong Ngoc, Duong Truong Giang, pipa artist Vu Dieu Thao…, promising to support the contestants to maximize their potential.

Artist Vu Dieu Thao said that with 20 years of experience as a lecturer and judge of music competitions, she hopes to contribute to the quality of the competition, finding talented contestants. Vu Dieu Thao hopes that contestants will not only participate in the competition as contestants, but also with the mindset of an artist, with performances that touch the hearts of viewers.

In terms of technology, this year the competition applied more modern approaches with the cooperation and co-production of 5G NetWork Company. Activities such as interactive livestreams, behind-the-scenes videos , and contestant diaries were broadcast on many social networking platforms such as Facebook Reels and TikTok to reach young audiences and increase transparency and fairness for the competition.

The competition consists of 4 rounds: Preliminary, Semi-final, Final and Final ranking. After the Preliminary and Semi-final rounds, 80 excellent contestants will be selected for the Final round in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The Final ranking night with 20 selected voices will take place at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, Hanoi, on October 18.

Awards will be given in the following categories: Romantic, Folk-Red Music, Light Music (Pop, Rock, R&B), with 1 Champion and 2 Runner-up prizes for each category. In addition, there will be additional prizes such as Most Favorite Contestant, Promising Contestant, Impressive Performance Contestant, and National Identity Award./.

"Global Vietnamese Singing" will be held for the first time in 2023, for Vietnamese citizens from 16 to 60 years old, regardless of professional or amateur.
