According to Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong, Vietnam and Kazakhstan have a long-standing friendship and cooperation relationship. Over the past 30 years, the relationship has continued to develop. In particular, thanks to efforts to promote and cooperate in the fields of culture, sports and tourism, Vietnam and Kazakhstan have achieved many results.

The Deputy Minister said that in 2015, Vietnam and Kazakhstan signed a cooperation agreement on culture and sports. Currently, the agreement is still in effect. Most recently, during the visit to Vietnam by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in August, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kazakhstan.

The two sides discussed a number of solutions to strengthen cooperation in culture, sports and tourism.

In 2023, Vietnam and Kazakhstan have implemented the exchange of music lecturers. Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent leaders of the Vietnam National Academy of Music to teach and perform in Kazakhstan at the request of the Association of Kazakhstan National Universities of Arts; attend the 2nd International Forum of Rectors of Music Universities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries, and the international scientific conference on "Culture, Arts and Training in Modern Conditions" at the invitation of the Kazakhstan National University of Arts.

Also in June, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism welcomed a Kazakhstan art troupe to Vietnam to organize the Vietnam - Kazakhstan Friendship Concert. Within the framework of this event, the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Kazakhstan National University of Arts signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in music education.

The Deputy Minister said that in the field of sports, the cooperation in sports between Vietnam and Kazakhstan in recent years has been good, mainly through the exchange of delegations, referees, coaches, and athletes to participate in international sports competitions.

In July 2017, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training (now the Department of Sports and Physical Training) sent the Vietnamese karate team to attend the Asian karate championship in Kazakhstan, winning 1 silver medal and 6 bronze medals.

Tourism also recorded many bright spots in the cooperation between the two countries when there was a direct flight connecting Nha Trang City (Vietnam) and Almaty (Kazakhstan). The opening of a direct flight is of great significance in creating favorable conditions for people to travel, promoting tourism development of the two countries.

In addition, Vietnam and Kazakhstan have signed a visa exemption agreement. Citizens of each country, if holding a valid national passport with at least 6 months validity, will be exempted from visas for entry, exit, transit, and temporary residence in the territory of the other country for no more than 30 days from the date of entry; no more than 90 days for each 180-day period.

In the coming period, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong said that there is still a lot of room for cooperation in culture, sports and tourism between Vietnam and Kazakhstan. Therefore, the two sides need to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, art troupes to exchange and perform in each country; create favorable conditions for both sides to participate in cultural and artistic activities organized within the bilateral and multilateral framework. In particular, the Deputy Minister suggested that the two countries study and continue to coordinate in implementing the Agreement on cultural and sports cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan.

Regarding sports, the Deputy Minister suggested that the Vietnamese sports sector increase exchange activities, delegation exchanges at all levels, and cooperate to share experiences in training. The two sides also need to increase mutual support at international sports forums and conferences; organize friendly competitions in sports that are strengths of the two countries such as weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, etc.
