Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep said that this is the first time Can Tho City has organized the River Culture Festival to create a cultural and tourism highlight, practically welcoming the new year 2026, contributing to creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere, improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people. Thereby, introducing and promoting the unique cultural features of the Mekong Delta in general and Can Tho City in particular to the people and domestic and foreign tourists; stimulating tourism for the whole region.

At the same time, raise public awareness in protecting the environment, especially the river ecosystem, encourage sustainable tourism development; increase the effective exploitation of resources and river tourism products; develop tours and inner-city tourism routes, connect river tourism in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City with the Mekong Delta provinces; expand links to develop tours and river tourism routes connecting with countries along the Mekong River.

Can Tho River Culture Festival 2025 with the theme "Can Tho - Colors of Rivers" takes place from December 26, 2025 to January 1, 2026 at Ben Ninh Kieu Park (Ninh Kieu Ward), Song Hau Park (Cai Khe Ward) and neighboring areas.

The opening night of “Colors of Rivers” took place on the evening of December 26 at the Pedestrian Bridge area - Ben Ninh Kieu Park. The highlight was the colorfully decorated boats following each other on the Hau River, blending with the sounds of traditional music echoing between the wharf and the boats, interspersed with street dances, vibrant lion-dragon dances on the central streets of the city, bringing a bustling, joyful atmosphere, imbued with the identity of the river delta region.

The Can Tho River Culture Festival will have 12 main activities. Highlights include the opening ceremony, nightly art performances for visitors; photo exhibition "Rhythm of life on the river - The West past and present"; decoration of models and miniature landscapes; sailboat racing; Sup boat racing; organizing exhibition spaces, introducing products, typical cuisine , OCOP products, promoting local tourism products; culinary promotion programs; waterway tourism stimulus programs; river environment protection activities... The Can Tho River Culture Festival 2025 promises to be a unique destination, with brilliant river colors, bringing people and visitors a memorable festival season imbued with the identity of the West.
