With only about a month left until the official launch of the iPhone 17 series, the iPhone market in Vietnam is in a slump. Retail chains are starting to clear shelves, gradually removing old models, especially slow-selling ones, to make way for the new iPhone series.
Surveys at large systems such as The Gioi Di Dong,FPT Shop or CellphoneS show that the iPhone models still on sale today are only from generation 13 and above, including iPhone 13, 14, 15 and 16. Lower versions such as iPhone 11 or 12 have disappeared from display shelves.
A representative of Mobile World confirmed that the iPhone 14 Plus model has been discontinued, both to optimize the product portfolio and to better meet consumer tastes. Because, in the same price range, the standard iPhone 15 version is being chosen by more users thanks to the use of the A16 chip, a design similar to the Pro line and many upgrades compared to the iPhone 14 Plus.
In fact, iPhone Plus versions in general do not achieve the expected consumption level. Although the iPhone 16 Plus has been on the market for nearly a year, Vietnamese users still tend to choose the iPhone 15 Plus because of its better price and similar performance. This is also the reason why Mobile World has shifted its focus to versions that are more suitable for actual needs.
iPhone supply is no longer abundant due to the upcoming launch of iPhone 17
Scarce supply, stable price
The wait for the iPhone 17 has limited the supply of older iPhone models. The iPhone 13, 14, and 15 currently have only a few versions left, the most popular being the 128 GB version in white or black. Distributors say Apple is currently only supplying a small number of older models to the Vietnamese market. The iPhone 13 and 14 batches, if available, are only arriving sporadically, not as regularly as before.
The lack of supply also prevents the price of old iPhones from dropping as much as in the beginning of the year. Current models remain stable, ranging from 11 to nearly 20 million VND depending on the version and capacity.
iPhone 11, 12 no longer on retail shelves
As the market awaits the new iPhone series, purchasing power has temporarily slowed down, and retailers are still mainly maintaining prices instead of deeply reducing them to stimulate demand. This trend is expected to last until Apple officially introduces the iPhone 17 in September.
