According to ET News (South Korea), Heo Moo-yeol, chief researcher at market analysis firm Omdia, revealed that " Apple will launch the iPhone 20 in the first half of 2027" at a conference held in Seoul.

If true, this release date would more closely coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first iPhone's official launch in 2007.
Another interesting detail shared by Heo Moo-yeol is that Apple will completely skip the name "iPhone 19" and go straight to iPhone 20.
This move is similar to what happened in 2017, when Apple "jumped" from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone X (i.e., iPhone 10) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iconic product line.
This could be a naming strategy intended to emphasize the 20th anniversary milestone and mark a major design turning point, similar to how the iPhone X revolutionized full-screen displays and Face ID.
According to Omdia analysts, Apple will change its iPhone launch strategy starting in 2027 by dividing it into two distinct phases.
First wave (first half of 2027): iPhone 18e and iPhone 20 will be released.
Phase two (second half of 2027): Apple will release higher-end models including the iPhone Air, iPhone 20 Pro, iPhone 20 Pro Max, and the second-generation iPhone Fold.
This information aligns with some previous rumors suggesting that, starting in 2026, Apple will release the Pro line in September, while the more mainstream models will launch the following spring.
Some earlier sources predicted that the iPhone 20 would be the most boldly designed iPhone since the iPhone X, with a unibody glass frame and a seamless curved front.
This could be the first iPhone with a curved design since 2020, based on a series of patents for glass bodies and curved displays that Apple has filed in recent years.
If this becomes a reality, the iPhone 20 will not only be a symbolic 20th anniversary but also mark a turning point in Apple's manufacturing technology and aesthetics.
Despite the attention-grabbing information, Omdia doesn't have a history of accurately leaking Apple products.
Previously, in December 2024, the company published a detailed report on Apple's OLED plans, but the predictions in that report were for the period after 2026 and have not been confirmed.
Therefore, tech experts believe the likelihood of Apple launching the iPhone 20 earlier than September is quite low. Releasing it too close to the iPhone 19 Pro or iPhone Fold (expected to launch just 6 months earlier) would cause overlapping and illogical product schedules for the company.
