Leaders and commanders of Economic - Defense Group 337 presented Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with achievements in implementing Sub-project 3/Project 3 in the past time.

On October 1, Colonel Uong Dinh Tan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Head of Economic - Defense Group 337, Military Region 4 held a conference to review experiences in coordinating the implementation of Sub-project 3/ Project 3 associated with supporting people to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.

In order to effectively implement the Project "Socio-economic development - model of soldiers associated with ethnic minority and mountainous areas" (called Sub-project 3/Project 3), Economic - Defense Group 337 has coordinated with the Party committees, authorities and local people of 13 communes in Khe Sanh Economic - Defense Zone to survey and understand the needs of crops, livestock, and agricultural tools of the people. From there, select models suitable to the local climate, soil, farming and production practices of the people such as: Model of raising crossbred cows, goats, model of growing rice, arrowroot... to unify the implementation proposal.

During the project implementation process, the unit has closely coordinated with the locality to select poor households with sufficient conditions in terms of production materials and labor, and voluntarily contributed counterpart capital to improve the effectiveness of the models. Training and guidance on livestock and crop farming techniques, disease prevention; mobilizing and helping people build barns and grow grass as a source of food on the spot have always been focused on by the unit. Thereby, helping people gradually apply scientific and technical advances in livestock and crop farming, build barns in accordance with regulations, raise awareness and responsibility, and no longer rely on the support of the State.

Economic - Defense Group 337 provides breeding animals to poor households in the area to develop the economy and reduce poverty.

Up to now, after more than 2 years of implementing Sub-project 3/Project 3, Economic - Defense Group 337 has provided 542 cows, 1,293 goats, 118 pigs, 322 lawn mowers and 7,480 kg of rice seeds and agricultural materials such as lime, nitrogen fertilizer, and pesticides for planting 93.5 hectares of rice and 12 hectares of Dong rieng for 1,950 households. With the support of the unit and the efforts of the people, many households now have stable lives and have risen out of poverty.

Attending the Conference, delegates from agencies and units of Economic - Defense Group 337 and the locality all affirmed that the results in the coordination in implementing Sub-project 3/Project 3 in Khe Sanh Economic - Defense Zone are a correct policy of the Party, State and Army. Thereby, promoting the role of the army, the effectiveness of Economic - Defense Groups on the front of labor production, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, building a strong defense posture in the border of the Fatherland. At the same time, many measures were proposed to effectively implement the project's objectives in the coming time.

Also at the Conference, Economic - Defense Group 337 awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 groups and 16 individuals with achievements in implementing Sub-project 3/Project 3.
