Many banks plan to increase capital

In order to increase competitiveness as well as have conditions to expand and develop their operating network, many banks plan to increase capital from now until the end of 2025.

Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( ACB ) has just been approved by the State Bank to increase its charter capital by VND6,700 billion in the form of issuing shares to pay dividends, according to the plan approved by the bank's shareholders' meeting.

Specifically, ACB will issue 670 million new shares to pay dividends to shareholders at a rate of 15% (shareholders owning 100 shares on the record date will receive 15 new shares).

The total issuance value at par value is nearly VND6,700 billion. After the issuance, the bank's charter capital will increase from VND44,667 billion to VND51,367 billion.

The expected completion date of the charter capital increase issuance plan is the third quarter of 2025. According to the latest report, ACB has a charter capital of VND 44,667 billion, ranking 6th in the industry's charter capital scale.

Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( VIB ) was also approved to increase capital by nearly VND4,300 billion, with the issuance of nearly 417.1 million shares to existing shareholders, equivalent to a rate of 14%, increasing charter capital to nearly VND4,171 billion.

Along with that, VIB also issued 7.8 million bonus shares to employees, equivalent to 0.26%, helping to increase charter capital by 78 billion VND.

After completing the above capital increase, VIB's charter capital will increase from more than VND 29,791 billion to more than VND 34,040 billion, corresponding to a capital increase rate of 14.26%.

National Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB) increased its charter capital by an additional VND7,500 billion in the form of issuing individual shares to securities investors.

Specifically, NCB issued 750 million individual shares with an offering price of no less than VND10,000/share, aiming to increase charter capital to a maximum of VND7,500 billion.

After the successful issuance, NCB's charter capital will increase from VND 11,780 billion to VND 19,280 billion. Previously, at the end of 2024, NCB completed the issuance of 617.8 million individual shares, increasing its charter capital to VND 11,780 billion.

If calculated by charter capital, currently, the bank with the highest charter capital is Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank ( VPBank ), with charter capital reaching 79,339 billion VND.

Ranked second is Techcombank with charter capital of VND 70,450 billion, an increase of 100% compared to the end of 2023. Next are Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development (BIDV) and Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade (Vietcombank), with charter capital of VND 57,004 billion and VND 55,891 billion, respectively.

Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) ranked 5th, with charter capital reaching 53,700 billion VND. Thus, after the capital increase plan of the above banks is completed, the capital ranking among banks will change and VietinBank will be the bank with the highest capital.
