Many rituals will be performed at the 2024 Northeast Ethnic Festival

The festival aims to honor the fine traditional cultural values of the ethnic groups in the Northeast region in the unified and diverse culture of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam.

Traditional rituals related to the life and labor production of ethnic minorities in the Northeast region will be recreated and performed within the framework of the 11th Northeast Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival.

That is the information shared by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy at a press conference on October 18.

Accordingly, the Festival will be held from November 2 to November 4 in Lang Son province with the theme "Northeast Culture - Identity, integration and outreach".

Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy said that this is a large-scale political and cultural event organized by the People's Committee of Lang Son province in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the participation of 8 provinces: Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc, Thai Nguyen and Lang Son.

“The festival aims to promote the spirit of solidarity among people of all ethnic groups, spread love, encourage and motivate people to overcome all difficulties and quickly overcome the severe consequences of storm No. 3,” said Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy.

Activities within the framework of the Festival will honor the fine traditional cultural values of the ethnic groups in the Northeast region in the unified and diverse culture of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam; introduce the potentials of culture, sports and tourism, promote the values of the cultural heritage of the Northeast region to contribute to economic development, care for the material and spiritual life of the people.

This event is also associated with the celebration of the 193rd anniversary of the founding of Lang Son province (November 4, 1831 - November 4, 2024) and the 115th anniversary of the birth of revolutionary leader Hoang Van Thu (November 4, 1909 - November 4, 2024).

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province affirmed that the Festival is an opportunity for artisans, actors, and mass athletes to meet, exchange experiences, raise awareness and consciousness in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic communities in the Northeast region during the period of integration and development of the country.

On this occasion, the provinces participating in the Festival in general and Lang Son province in particular have the opportunity to introduce and promote the potential for tourism development, promote the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities to domestic and international friends.

Within the framework of the Festival, the provinces will organize exhibition spaces to reflect: The culture of the ethnic communities typical of the province, demonstrating the richness and diversity in the unity of Vietnamese culture; Achievements in production, construction, national defense, socio-economic development, national security and defense and building community cultural life; Tourism products, typical destinations of the locality, OCOP products associated with local tourism.

Ethnic minorities will also demonstrate the making and performance of musical instruments, folk songs, folk music, and traditional dances of ethnic groups in the Northeast region; demonstrate and introduce the operations, materials, and production processes of typical local traditional crafts.

The Opening Ceremony of the Festival took place at 8:00 p.m. on November 2 at Hung Vuong Street Square, Lang Son City, broadcast live on VTV2 and rebroadcast on VTV5 - Vietnam Television and Radio and Television Stations of provinces and cities.
