Deputy Director of the Department of Children ( Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs ) Nguyen Thi Nga said that recently, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has made many efforts with many activities to protect children in the online environment.

Vietnam and other ASEAN countries agreed to adopt the Declaration on Protecting Children from All Forms of Online Exploitation and Abuse in ASEAN in 2019, and then in 2021 adopted the Declaration on Eliminating Bullying in ASEAN, including online bullying.
Recently, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has coordinated with relevant organizations and units to organize campaigns and communication activities on child protection in the online environment; develop leaflets, documents, and clips to guide children on online safety skills in the online environment. These documents have been sent to provinces and cities and posted on the website of the Department of Children and Hotline 111.

From 2020 to present, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Public Security have closely coordinated with each other, working together to handle children's issues on the Internet, issuing documents to promptly and resolutely handle violations, especially bad and toxic information on social networks such as Facebook and Youtube, and resolutely requesting foreign service providers to remove violating information. The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs proactively informs and issues official dispatches requesting inspection and handling of content posted on electronic newspapers and social networks with bad and toxic content that affects the healthy development of children as soon as it detects information on electronic newspapers and social networks and from people's feedback via the National Child Protection Hotline (number 111).

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has issued a plan to implement Decision No. 830/QD-TTg on protecting children in the online environment; signed a coordination regulation between the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Information and Communications. In coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications (Department of Information Security, Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information), the Ministry of Public Security (Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention), it is requested that businesses providing digital services and content in the online environment enforce legal regulations on ensuring information safety and security, protecting personal information, and protecting children in the online environment; at the same time, strengthen the implementation of technical measures, filtering, and removing content that is not suitable for children on the platform.

Along with that, participating in the network of response and protection of children in the online environment: In 2021, the Network of Response and Protection of Children in the Online Environment was established with the participation of 24 units including state management agencies, social organizations, enterprises, etc. to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of state management and the results of implementing tasks of preventing and combating child abuse in the online environment, contributing to raising social awareness and creating a safe and healthy online environment for children.

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has been carrying out the tasks assigned in Decision No. 830/QD-TTg: Building and integrating online notification channels on issues related to children on the Internet with the National Child Protection Hotline 111. Hotline 111 currently receives information via: phone, website, zalo, fanpage, email; Using the Internet environment itself to enhance creative interactions on the Internet environment, raising awareness of parents and children: organizing seminars and talks on child protection on the Internet environment; organizing a contest to create game ideas on child protection; developing products: leaflets, documents, clips instructing children and parents on Internet safety skills, posting on the website of the Ministry, Department of Children, Hotline 111.
Training for core children in some provinces and cities on self-protection skills when participating in the online environment and skills for healthy and creative interaction in the online environment: In 2022, training for 40 press reporters on child protection in the online environment; training for 128 core children in 12 provinces and cities on self-protection skills when participating in the online environment and skills for healthy and creative interaction in the online environment. Counseling and psychological support for children who are abused in the online environment via hotline 111; Detecting, connecting to the network for responding to and protecting children in the online environment and issuing written requests for verification, handling or handling of cases of abuse or suspected abuse of children in the online environment according to assigned functions and tasks. In particular, issues related to children in the online environment have been received, processed and analyzed via Hotline 111.
