In late April 2025, we had the opportunity to visit Hai village, Trung Thanh commune and felt the joy and excitement of the local people when the Ban Ven hamlet bridge was completed and put into use. Mr. Truong Duc Long, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Hai village, shared: The village has 95 households with 400 people, the villagers mainly work in agriculture and forestry. Previously, the Ban Ven hamlet bridge was a temporary bridge built by the villagers themselves. Every year, during the rainy season, the bridge is flooded and washed away by floodwaters, making it impossible for the villagers to travel and the children cannot go to school.
Faced with that reality, at village meetings and voter contacts, people have repeatedly petitioned the government and relevant agencies to pay attention to investing in the construction of a bridge for people in Ban Ven hamlet. In November 2024, the village received support and started building the bridge under the State-People joint construction method. The villagers were very excited and together contributed money and labor to build the bridge.
"Trang Dinh is a district with a large area, the terrain is divided by many rivers and streams. With the motto of the State and the People working together, from 2024 to now, the district has mobilized social resources to build 2 bridge projects with a total value of over 1 billion VND. Through review, currently the whole district still has about 20 bridges for people in 7 communes and towns that need to be built. In the coming time, we will continue to recommend and propose to competent authorities to pay attention to investing and building bridges to help people travel conveniently, creating motivation for people to develop the economy ." Mr. Nguyen Nhu Binh, Head of Urban Infrastructure Economic Department of Trang Dinh district |
The Ban Ven hamlet community bridge is 24 m long, 2.55 m wide, 3 m high, including 2 spans, 3 piers, with a total construction cost of over 644 million VND. Of which, the Provincial Civil Servants' Union (formerly) supported 130 million VND; the Commune People's Committee, agencies, units, and people in the commune supported and contributed over 101 million VND; benefactors supported over 43.7 million VND; the remaining amount was supported by a number of businesses and people inside and outside the commune in kind and working days.
Ms. Luong Thi Mien (64 years old), a resident of Hai village, said: My family voluntarily contributed 2 million VND and labor days to join hands to build the bridge. Since the new bridge was built, people's travel has become more convenient, no longer worrying about the rainy season, and at the same time, the trading activities of people in the village have become more convenient, so we are very excited.
Mr. Nong Van Hai, Chairman of Trung Thanh Commune People's Committee, said: When the plan to build a bridge was announced, the people in Hai village were very happy and agreed to contribute money and working days to build the project. The investment and construction of the bridge has helped households in the village travel more conveniently, especially during the rainy season. Since then, the people in the village have been assured to develop production to develop the economy. Currently, in the commune, there are still 2 people's bridges that need to be built in Ban Pieng village and Pac Pau village. In the coming time, the commune government will continue to recommend and propose to competent authorities to pay attention to investing and building bridges, and at the same time mobilize resources to build people's bridges to make it more convenient for people to travel.
The construction and use of the Ban Ven hamlet bridge will be a driving force to help local people develop their economy and get rich on their homeland.
