Every month, Ms. Hoang Thi Hon, Dong Khu village, Minh Tien commune, Huu Lung district, and her neighbors gather to clean up the environment. Ms. Hon said: In addition to participating in monthly environmental cleaning, my family and other households in the village regularly sweep the road passing by our house; organize the planting and pruning of flowers and trees along the village roads; collect and dispose of garbage in the right place.

Not only Dong Khu village, people in other villages in Minh Tien commune also actively joined hands and contributed to implementing environmental criteria. Mr. Hoang Van Tai, Chairman of Minh Tien Commune People's Committee, said: To implement environmental criteria, in 2024, the Commune People's Committee coordinated with relevant agencies to propagate and mobilize people's efforts, and mobilize resources (of which the State supported nearly 140 million VND; people contributed more than 1,000 laborers, money, and goods...) to join hands to implement the criteria. Thereby, people in the commune have cleared 32 km of traffic corridors; planted flowers, green hedges, and shade trees for nearly 3 km of traffic; built 58 pesticide packaging collection points; built 352 incinerators in households; Sweeping and cleaning traffic routes periodically twice a month... The results achieved in implementing environmental criteria have significantly contributed to helping Minh Tien commune be recognized as meeting NTM standards in 2024.

Up to now, in Huu Lung district, there are 12 communes meeting environmental criteria and it is one of the three districts with the most communes meeting environmental criteria in the province.

Along with Minh Tien commune, in recent years, other communes in Huu Lung district have been proactive in building and maintaining environmental criteria in building new rural areas. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thang, Vice Chairman of Huu Lung District People's Committee said: Determining environmental criteria is one of the difficult criteria, requiring direct cooperation of the people, so in recent years, the District People's Committee has directed relevant agencies to promote propaganda, mobilize the people's cooperation and balance and integrate resources to support the communes.

Specifically, from 2021 to present, on average each year, all levels, sectors, associations and organizations in the district have organized conferences and integrated propaganda activities on new rural construction, including nearly 400 meetings on implementing environmental criteria with over 20,000 participants; coordinated propaganda on mass media over 100 news and articles related to new rural construction; propaganda through loudspeaker systems, social networks, etc.

Along with promoting propaganda and advocacy, the People's Committee of Huu Lung district has mobilized and integrated resources to support communes in implementing the criteria. From 2021 to present, the total resources mobilized to implement environmental criteria have been nearly 17.7 billion VND (supporting people in building hygienic toilets and bathrooms; building incinerators, pesticide containers; planting flowers and trees; upgrading and repairing some roads, contributing to environmental protection in communes with mineral exploitation activities...).

With the support of the State and the cooperation and contribution of the people, the implementation of environmental criteria in Huu Lung district has achieved positive results. Up to now, the district has 12 communes meeting environmental criteria and is one of the three districts with the most communes meeting environmental criteria in the province.

Currently, the People's Committee of Huu Lung district continues to direct relevant units to closely coordinate with the People's Committees of communes in propagating and mobilizing people as well as supporting resources for communes to continue implementing as well as maintaining and consolidating environmental criteria. Thereby contributing to the successful implementation of the common goals and tasks of building new rural areas in the district as well as changing the face of the countryside, improving the quality of life of people in the area.
