The two localities have agreed to expedite the implementation of several key projects, with particular attention paid to the Cat Lai Bridge, a strategic connection route from Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (formerly Thu Duc City) through Nhon Trach commune, Dong Nai province, to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway.
The project has a total length of approximately 11.37km, with the main bridge section spanning over 3km, featuring 6 lanes, and a total investment of nearly 18,816 billion VND. The project is assigned to Dong Nai province as the lead agency, with construction expected to commence between 2026 and 2028, funded by approximately 3,600 billion VND from Ho Chi Minh City's budget during the 2026-2030 period.
The Dong Nai 2 Bridge is the next project, connecting Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 at the Go Cong intersection (Long Phuoc ward, former Thu Duc City) with the DT 777B road (Long Thanh). The bridge is 11.8km long, with a 2.34km bridge section and 6 lanes, costing 11,708 billion VND. The project is being implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with Ho Chi Minh City expected to allocate approximately 3,110 billion VND for the 2026-2030 period.
Another project is the Phu My 2 bridge, with a length of 14.8km (the bridge section is 4.67km long), 6 lanes, and a total investment of approximately 16,545 billion VND. The route will connect Nguyen Huu Tho - Hoang Quoc Viet road in Phu Thuan ward, Ho Chi Minh City to Road 25C in Nhon Trach commune, Dong Nai province.
In addition, many bridge projects are being planned and prepared for investment to increase connectivity between the new Ho Chi Minh City (after the merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau ) and Dong Nai.
These include Hieu Liem 2 Bridge on National Highway 56B (Bac Tan Uyen - Vinh Cuu), Tan An Bridge (DT.746 Lac An - DT.768 Tan An), Thanh Hoi 2 Bridge (Tan Uyen - Vinh Cuu), and Tan Hien Bridge connecting Bac Tan Uyen - Vinh Cuu, forming a synchronized infrastructure axis for the eastern urban-industrial zone.
Both localities assess that once the new bridge projects are completed, people will significantly reduce travel time, and it will also open up an important connection axis to Long Thanh Airport, Nhon Trach Industrial Park, and eastern urban areas.
The existing bridges are also contributing to the formation of a comprehensive transportation network, bringing the two localities closer together. During the period 2026-2030, when all the projects are completed simultaneously, the distance between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai will be shortened both in terms of space and development opportunities.
