The two localities have agreed to speed up the implementation of many key projects, with special attention paid to Cat Lai Bridge, a strategic connection route from Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (old Thu Duc City) through Nhon Trach Commune, Dong Nai Province to Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway.
The project has a total length of about 11.37km, the main bridge is more than 3km long, has 6 lanes, and a total investment of nearly 18,816 billion VND. The project is assigned to Dong Nai province as the host agency, expected to start construction in the 2026-2028 period with a budget source of about 3,600 billion VND from Ho Chi Minh City for the 2026-2030 period.
Dong Nai 2 Bridge is the next project, connecting Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 at Go Cong intersection (Long Phuoc ward, old Thu Duc city) with DT 777B road (Long Thanh). The bridge is 11.8km long, the bridge section is 2.34km, 6 lanes, capital of 11,708 billion VND. The project is agreed under the form of PPP, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to allocate about 3,110 billion VND in capital for the period 2026-2030.
Another project is Phu My 2 Bridge, 14.8km long (bridge section is 4.67km long), 6 lanes, total capital of about 16,545 billion VND. The route will connect from Nguyen Huu Tho - Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Phu Thuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City to 25C Street, Nhon Trach Commune, Dong Nai Province.
In addition, many bridge projects are being planned and prepared for investment to increase connectivity between the new Ho Chi Minh City (after merging Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau ) and Dong Nai.
Including Hieu Liem 2 bridge on National Highway 56B (Bac Tan Uyen - Vinh Cuu), Tan An bridge (DT.746 Lac An - DT.768 Tan An), Thanh Hoi 2 bridge (Tan Uyen - Vinh Cuu) and Tan Hien bridge connecting Bac Tan Uyen - Vinh Cuu, forming a synchronous infrastructure axis for the eastern urban - industrial area.
The two localities assessed that when the new bridge projects are completed, people will significantly reduce travel time, while opening an important connection axis to Long Thanh airport, Nhon Trach Industrial Park and eastern urban areas.
The existing bridges are also contributing to the formation of a complete traffic network, bringing the two localities closer together. In the period of 2026-2030, when the projects are completed simultaneously, the distance between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai will be shortened in both space and development opportunities.
