The number of international students coming to study, research and exchange languages and cultures at member schools of the University of Danang is increasing, coming from more than 20 countries and territories. International students not only contribute to the implementation of the unit's goals and strategies to enhance integration and internationalization of highereducation , but also become cultural and tourism "ambassadors", promoting and introducing the beautiful and hospitable city of Danang to international friends.
Students Manon Brun and Gihan Zhiri from the University of Côte d'Azur (France) shared: “The time studying at the University of Economics (University of Danang) not only accumulated more knowledge but also filled with opportunities to exchange and explore. We will definitely tell our families, teachers and friends stories about education, culture and people of this beautiful coastal city.”
Meanwhile, the program of sightseeing, cultural experience and language practice for international students studying Vietnamese at the University of Education (University of Danang ) is organized annually, with the coordination between member schools of Danang University, providing opportunities for international students to visit, learn, experience culture, history and practice Vietnamese.
“This is a typical activity that international students are very interested in because they get to know and check in at famous tourist destinations and attractions in Da Nang such as: Da Nang Museum, Cham Sculpture Museum, National Monuments of Ngu Hanh Son, Ba Na, Son Tra... This activity practically implements the spirit of Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate education and training, and promote the promotion of Vietnamese language and culture abroad,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice President of the University of Education.
The University of Foreign Languages (University of Danang) regularly receives students from Japan, Thailand, China, Korea, France, Laos, etc. to study, exchange, and conduct research. In 2024 alone, the school will have more than 200 international students studying in the faculties of International Studies and English Language to exchange languages, cultures, and study Vietnamese language and culture programs for foreigners. The school coordinates with relevant departments, branches, and associations to organize large-scale international cultural exchange activities, typically: Korean cultural exchange festival; Maslenitsa cultural festival, Russian Federation, etc.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Principal of the University of Foreign Languages, this is a suitable direction that demonstrates the school's mission with a 40-year tradition of training and researching international languages, cultures, and civilizations.
The Spring Kulturstudier Program, hosted by the Vietnam-UK Institute for Research and Training (VNUK), in partnership with the Norwegian Kulturstudier Cultural Organization, is also a highlight in international student exchange. This year's program is the fourth season, attracting more than 40 students from Nordic countries and VNUK students selected as ambassadors to connect international students with the culture and landscapes of Da Nang. During the 10 weeks, students participated in seminars, visited businesses and production facilities, explored local culture, and had cultural exchanges with the Co Tu community in Hoa Vang district.
Not only promoting culture and tourism, international student exchange programs at the University of Danang also aim at community service projects. A typical example is the Learning Express program in collaboration between the University of Technology and Singapore Polytechnic, season 8, taking place at the end of April.
Students from both schools directly participated in implementing field projects in traditional craft villages in Hoa Vang district; thereby proposing improvements in production processes and applying new technologies to craft village development. Ms. Nur Aliffar Binte Nasrun, Head of the Singapore Polytechnic Student Delegation, recognized this as an effective method of learning, researching, and working in groups, connecting students from two countries in the ASEAN bloc, contributing their intelligence and youth to the community.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Quang Son, Vice President of Danang University, attracting international students not only brings value to learners, connects, and exchanges academic development, but also contributes to enhancing prestige, creating an international environment for higher education, introducing and promoting Danang city to international friends.
