They are both life partners and colleagues, sharing family life, working side by side on the information front, silently contributing to creating quality, humane journalistic works.
Nearly 15 years of working in journalism is also the same amount of years that Ms. Thu Phuong, a reporter for the News Department, and her husband, Mr. Dinh Soai, have been filming in the same room, putting aside the New Year's Eve moment every year to devote themselves to work. For them, New Year's Eve is not a moment in a cozy house but in a bustling editing room, a live studio full of lights, or crowded streets at the moment of the New Year's transition.
As a reporter and secretary for the morning and evening news bulletins, Ms. Phuong and many of her colleagues start their work very early. At 4:30 a.m., she is already at the office, reviewing the script, updating information, and preparing the bulletin for broadcast on time. On evening shifts, she often has to leave the office at 8:30 p.m. or even 9 p.m.
The workload is large and the pace is fast. There are days when the couple works in Mong Cai, the head of the province, in the morning, but in the evening they are already at the end of the province to do another report. The news changes constantly, the time is urgent, while every stage of production requires absolute precision, not allowing any mistakes to occur.
Luckily for Ms. Phuong, her partner is also a colleague who understands the nature of the job. The couple supports each other in every way, from housework to each frame on air. However, the children in the family who work in journalism are not without disadvantages. "My children have been used to their grandparents taking care of them since they were young, now that they are a little older, the 6-year-old and the 8-year-old take care of each other at home," Ms. Phuong said. Her voice is gentle, but enough to see how much sadness lies behind it.
Journalism has long been called a noble profession. But behind the stage lights, behind the neat and punctual news broadcasts, there are countless sleep interruptions, unfinished meals and everyday moments that must be exchanged. For Thu Phuong and Dinh Soai, it is not only a job, but also a responsibility, a choice that comes from a passion for the profession, from the mission of revolutionary journalists in the new era.
Although not in the same professional department, the pair of reporter Nguyen Dung (Arts and Entertainment Department) and editor Duc Anh (Radio Editorial Department) always stand out for their creativity and understanding of each other in each press product. Nguyen Dung is a young, dynamic reporter, specializing in producing cultural and social articles with current events, from traditional festivals to contemporary art trends. Each of her articles has a current and social depth, loved by readers for its fresh way of expression. Meanwhile, Duc Anh is an editor with a forte in producing radio press products promoting traffic safety on 2 radio channels, and is also famous for a series of witty and humorous radio skits, such as: Traffic doctor, digital transformation with the know-it-all professor, comedy skits, radio stories...
Each person has a different field, but they complement each other in both work and life. The evenings, instead of being a time for complete rest, sometimes become lively "professional exchanges". Reporter Nguyen Dung gives advice to editor Duc Anh on how to choose situations to make the skits more lively, closer to the young audience, or topics that women are interested in. Meanwhile, Duc Anh often supports and gives advice to his wife on the structure of the articles, suggesting more multimedia approaches to make the articles more attractive and multi-dimensional. That mutual support not only improves the quality of each work but is also a clear demonstration of a companionate relationship, where love is linked to understanding and sharing in the journey of journalism.
As a special couple who both take on the role of MC, Mr. Xuan Thuy and Ms. Thu Hien have long been familiar faces to the audience through news and columns broadcast on QTV channels of the Quang Ninh Provincial Media Center. Mr. Xuan Thuy often hosts political and current affairs programs with a mature demeanor, an expressive voice and a responsible and meticulous working spirit. Ms. Thu Hien leaves an impression with her friendly and flexible hosting style through columns on health, education, women, unions, weather, etc. Not only stopping at the role of MC, Mr. Xuan Thuy also directly participates in the work of editorial secretary and production of news and television reports, contributing to improving the quality of content on air.
Although they are in charge of different content areas, what they have in common is their dedication to their profession and their enduring love for their work. Each news broadcast is the result of careful preparation, serious practice, and sharing and supporting each other behind the scenes.
Ms. Thu Hien confided: “Working in the same profession, we understand each other’s pressures. On days when he presents the news, I take the time to cook and do housework. There are days when I film outdoors all day, and he helps take care of the children and pick them up from school. Without support and understanding, it would be difficult for both of us to fully devote ourselves to our jobs.”
What is special about these "journalism partners" is not only that they share the same profession, but also that they nurture a lasting love for the profession and a spirit of silent dedication to the development of the media in their home province.
Mr. Xuan Thuy confided: “There are times when work pressure makes both of us tired, but when we look back at the programs that are well received by the audience, the positive feedback from the community, we have more motivation. The most important thing is that the couple understands, loves and always creates conditions for each other to pursue their passions.”
Although there are not many couples working together at the Provincial Media Center, each of their stories is a beautiful piece in the picture of journalism today. They not only leave their mark with quality news articles and well-prepared broadcasts, but also spread inspiration about love for the profession, about companionship and sharing from everyday life. Together overcoming pressure, understanding and trusting each other, they become a solid support, both life partners and professional partners to progress together in a journalism environment that always requires dedication and innovation every day.
