Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association of the province, Editor-in-Chief of Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station and the working delegation met and visited the family of Mr. Nguyen An Ninh.

At Nguyen An Ninh Memorial House, Mr. Le Hong Phuoc and the delegation offered incense to commemorate Mr. Nguyen An Ninh; at the same time, met and inquired about the health of Mr. Nguyen An Ninh's descendants and family.

Mr. Nguyen An Ninh was born in 1900 in a family of Confucian intellectuals. His paternal hometown was in Hoc Mon, Gia Dinh province; his maternal hometown was in Long Thuong commune, Can Giuoc district, Cho Lon province (now Long An province). He was a great cultural figure, journalist, and thinker of our country in the early 20th century.

In 1918, Nguyen An Ninh passed the entrance exam to the Law Faculty of Sorbonne University, France. After a period of study, he completed the 4-year program and was awarded a Bachelor of Law degree with honors. In October 1922, Nguyen An Ninh returned to Vietnam and began patriotic activities against the French colonial government.

On December 10, 1923, the first issue of the newspaper Tiếng Chương Rè (La Cloche Fêlée) was published in Saigon, founded by him. The newspaper sounded the alarm to awaken the people and exposed the nature of the colonial regime in Cochinchina. The first issue published the eight demands of Nguyen Ai Quoc presented at the Versailles Congress. Nguyen An Ninh also republished in the newspaper Tiếng Chương Rè some of Nguyen Ai Quoc's articles that had been published in the newspaper Người cung khu.

Due to his patriotic activities from 1926 to 1943, Nguyen An Ninh was imprisoned by the French colonialists five times. In prison, Nguyen An Ninh still maintained the qualities of a patriotic, enthusiastic, and upright intellectual. After leaving prison, Nguyen An Ninh continued his revolutionary activities. The last time, he was sentenced by the imperial court to five years of exile, exiled to Con Dao. He died on August 14, 1943.

From a well-trained intellectual, Nguyen An Ninh became a revolutionary soldier with a profound and wide influence throughout two decades (1923 - 1943) of the patriotic movement, especially in the South.

In recognition of the great contributions and sacrifices of Nguyen An Ninh and his family to the country, on August 1, 1980, the State posthumously awarded Nguyen An Ninh a martyr title. Nguyen An Ninh's mother, Truong Thi Ngu, was posthumously awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother.

The delegation came to offer incense at the shrine of Nguyen An Ninh.

Implementing the conclusion of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the Long An Provincial Press Award will be renamed the Nguyen An Ninh Press Award. On June 19, 2025, the Nguyen An Ninh Press Award ceremony will officially take place with 198 excellent press works by more than 40 authors inside and outside the province participating./.
