The first woman with 100 billion USD
Francoise Bettencourt Meyers - the world's richest woman - has just recorded her assets reaching the 100 billion USD mark.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaire's Index , as of December 28, L'Oreal cosmetics empire heiress Francoise Bettencourt Meyers became the first woman in the world to own 100 billion USD.
She is now the 12th richest person on the planet, ahead of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani. Her fortune has increased by $28.6 billion since the beginning of the year, thanks to a 35% increase in L'Oreal shares this year. Global consumers have continued to spend heavily on luxury goods since the pandemic began.
According to Forbes ' billionaires list, Bettencourt Meyers' fortune is also close to reaching the $100 billion mark. Currently, she has $99.6 billion.

L'Oreal said in 2022 that Bettencourt Meyers and her family owned more than 34% of the cosmetics empire, making her the world's richest woman for many years. She is the granddaughter of L'Oreal founder Eugène Schueller.
Bettencourt Meyers first appeared on rich lists in 2018, after the death of her mother, Liliane Bettencourt. She is currently chairwoman of the family investment company Tethys and vice chairwoman of the L'Oreal Group.
Still, in the luxury goods industry, Bettencourt Meyers' fortune is still far behind that of LVMH Chairman Bernard Arnault. The boss of the world's largest luxury goods maker is currently the second richest person on the planet, with $179 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
L'Oreal Group is the world's largest cosmetics empire, owning brands such as Lancome and Maybelline. Last year, the group's revenue was more than 38 billion euros ($42 billion).
Earlier this year, L'Oreal bought Australian brand Aesop for $2.5 billion. This is the company's largest merger and acquisition (M&A) deal to date. The previous record was the $1.7 billion purchase of YSL Beauté in 2008.

Kwong Siu-hing, wife of the co-founder of property giant Sun Hung Kai, has become China's richest woman for the first time.
The 94-year-old businesswoman has a fortune of $9.94 billion, becoming the sixth Chinese woman to top the list since the ranking was published 18 years ago.

Ms Kwong became Sun Hung Kai's largest shareholder through a trust after her husband's death in 1990.
